There has not been a society in history which has avoided war. As every society has also practied some kind of religion, it is possible to blame the wars on their religion. So there has also not been a religion which has not somehow been used as part of a war.

As religion can be a strong motivating factor in peoples life, it is often used as an excuse for going to war, or to support a war. Even though often the specific war, and the act of warfare itself, may be in contrast with the religion itself.

But if you want examples of "holy wars", you need look no further back then the fighting in India between the various Hindu sects (and other religions) at the time of Ghandi. They tore that country apart in a way that is still not healed today.

Look at the bloodshed which surrounded the early amd middle kingdoms of Egypt, look before the "big 3" religions appeared. Look at the bloodshed which surrounds the ancient Greeks, such as the Trojan War. Look at the bloodshed that was common among the African trbes, or the American Indian tribes. Neither group was at all familiar with the "Big 3" religions.

So there have been wars - and "holy" wars - in every culture and religions. It is not limited to the Judeo/Christian/Islamic traditions.

Well yes, although it is probably best recorded in the bible, (Hebrew/christian) many other tribes like the Canaanites and others worshiped gods. You can say that Everything comes from the first king Nimrod. After him other type of worship from gods, tri-gods, tree hugging worship and so. Including sects in religions , i mean a person has their own way to worship God. That ideal, has cause wars on massibe scales. Just look harder at an encyclopdia and see that other nations with their own religions like Baal killed by the thousands.

There are none that I know of when it comes to Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, or Jainism. That is mainly because pacifism is a big part of those religious beliefs, but I'm sure there still are people who claim they are of one of those religions that do acts of violence in the name of their religion.

Yes, they were not as important historically. BTW-Islam is not an Abrahamic religion. Judaism is the Abrahamic religion, and Christianity is its offspring. Islam has nothing to with it. This is a lie spread by Muslims to help Islam gain acceptance as a valid religion.
