My neighbors that live behind me set off about four hours of fireworks last night. My car and driveway have all kinds of ash and debris all over them. My yard is covered with wrappers and bottle rocket stems. I'm thinking I'm gonna sweep it all up and dump it in their pool. Would this be overreacting? Also, I want to send them a bill to get my car washed.

First thing, I live in NY where it is illegal to set off fireworks.
Second, I wouldn't care as much if these people weren't selfish jerks. They have a dog that they leave out all day long, even when it was 90 degrees for three days straight. The poor thing ends up barking and whining all day long.
And I was exaggerating when I said that I would dump it in their pool. I'm just upset that I woke up to a disaster and my car that I just washed needs to be washed again.

No! No! No! Borrow or rent a 2 stroke professional leaf blower and blow it over into their yard where it belongs! Don't forget to blow off your car first!

A few years back, they came over into my yard to set off their aerial spectacular [sarcasm here] and burnt a big hole in my yard, debris was everywhere, the roof, the yard. The next year, I was ready. I went out before dark, and soaked the whole yard really good with water, the roof too. And the wet grass didn't stop them, across they came. And I opened the door, and stared at them. They stopped, and went over into their own driveway.
Choose what you want to do, I have a way of mentioning to the miscreants mother that, gee, it is a shame the hole got burnt into my yard, the yard was vandalized, someone was peering into her windows from my yard at 1:30 am, and see what she has to say. It is always a denial.
I would mention it though, and say, gee, it is too bad they couldn't have cleaned up the mess, it would have been a nice thing to do. Wish my car had not got dirty, I had just washed it.And see if they won't offer.

Speak to the neighbors . If they can afford four hours worth of fireworks they're not poor. Organize all the kids/neighborhood who watched the fireworks to help clean up...Organize car washes for charity. Our house is covered with ash debris after the fireworks in our city, but hey, it's once a year and if Mother Nature helps, a big wind will get rid of most of it. If not, a powerwash on low will even clean the grass.

i could purely sit down exterior with a hose & a nozzle that has a protracted spray on it & each and every firwork that reaches my backyard could get a dose of water. All in the sky over my land could additionally get a spraying of water. If the neighbor do no longer like it - enable them to call the law enforcement officers! If something catches on fire - i could call the fire branch & nonetheless be available with my hose & each and every of the fallen fireworks as evidence of a pyromaniac in the community. no person has to understand the place the unlawful fireworks are coming from. the pros call discern it out by skill of the debris on the floor & the ashes. In my community, we've helicopters that may song the gunpowder residue from the air! this is a stiff superb of $a million,500.00 in step with kin! no person ever contests their tickets & wins! I discern this is purely as quickly as a twelve months & all can do is shop a funky head & shop my very own backyard as secure as obtainable from the falling embers of the flaming gadgets. I even have one buddies with overgrown wood, lifeless branches & lots of died leaves in the valleys of his previous wood shake roof. this is a scarry concept to think of what could ensue to my domicile if his have been to circulate up in flames from a buddies unlawful fireworks. this is fire SEASON - reason #a million to chop back to induce to illuminate loose roaming gadgets that carry a flame!

If you dump it in their pool, you still have done all the cleaning work and you'll get them mad at you. Tell them to come clean up their mess! They may still be unhappy but at least they will be doing the work.

Visit them and tell them very nicely that the fireworks display was great, but unfortunately, it's left your place in a real mess. Would they mind coming round to clean up all the stuff? Give them a chance to do the right thing before you give them a piece of your mind, because once you lose it, you'll definitely not get any help out of them.

Move to Canada, Canadians are polite, and don't use fireworks nearly as often.
Or as an alternative,
go speak to your neighbor, call em over, show them the mess and give them a chance to offer to make amends.
If not, actually hire someone to clean up your yard, wash your car, and put both invoices in the jerk's mail box.

A How about stop being vengeful! Would it really take that much effort to just clean it up?
Imagine all the harbored negative feelings you have just because your neighbor set off some fireworks in celebration of the freedom we experieince....now you want to wage war.
the psycological problem is yours.....take a new attitude!
Be forgiving , understanding and helpful!
You could even go so far as to acknowledge that they had a grand celebration....which I'm sure you and your family probably watched!

Let the neighbors know that when they did the fireworks they ended up making a mess of your yard and your car.
See what they say or do. They may offer to clean up or wash your car.
Don't do spiteful vengeful things, that is just juvenile and pathetic.

Discuss it with them: it doesn't need to be adversarial or overly confrontational, but let them know how you feel. They might be surprised. SOmetimes thoughtlessness is created by lack of thought, not just selfishness.
Regarding the dog, call the ASPCA. If they're not going to be responsible, you should be.
