The seventh day adventist who knocked on my door the other day was quite adamant that there's a vertical petrified tree that rises vertically through the rockface of the Grand Canyon and that it's proof the world is only 6000 years old.

He also claimed all fossils were fakes, put there to trick us because he said flesh can't fossiled.

And of course he came up with their old argument saying that radio carbon dating claims something 5 years old is 100 million years old.

Why do churches fed these poor guys with such nonsense?

Can't they arm these guys with better arguments?

And why don't they do something more Jesus-like with their time and feed the poor?

Oh, wait, honest work is the bane of the "religious."

Here's a link to some articles that you can read http://www.icr.org/rate/

There's exciting new scientific evidence which supports the Biblical teaching of a young earth. Scientists associated with the Institute for Creation Research have finished an eight-year research project.

For over a hundred years, evolutionists have insisted that the earth is billions of years old, and have arrogantly dismissed any views contrary to this belief. However, a team of seven creation scientists have discovered incredible physical evidence that supports what the Bible says about the young age of the earth.

This scientific research project is called RATE, which stands for Radioisotopes and the Age of The Earth.

Wow, I can't even find that tree claim on the internet....weird one. It would have to be a mile tall tree.

And I guess it doesn't bother him when you told him that Carbon dating will only date to 50-60 thousand years? It is amazing how those claims are outside what the test parameters are.

There's no evidence of it being 6000 years old, and that number is subject for debate anyway ... it didn't come from God. That 6000 number came from a man who added up the dates from a known period of time backwards to when Adam and Eve came out of the garden.

But it doesn't account for the time they spent in the garden, does it.

Christians have problems admitting to the truth, that the world is older than 6000 years old, because then they would start doubting the bible.

Most Christians have to believe the bible is literal. If it isn't the none of it can be true and their religion falls apart.

There is no record of a 6,000-year-old earth in the Bible; nor any other fixed figure such as 10,000 or 13,000 or 13,007, etc. To quote the Bard: "Much ado about nothing."

Fossils are real and IMHO supports creationism.
By bible accounts the world is at least 10,000 years old, not sure where the 6000 came from.
I've also heard of Christians say there were no dinosaurs, even though the bible mentions them like 20 times.

The world is alot more than 6,000 years old.
When Genesis begins, some materials that went into making the earth are already in existence.
However, man's history on this age-old planet, can be traced back only 6,000 years.

People will believe what they want to believe, and they know they only need to provide a handful of straws to grasp for their believers.

MARTIN S: you clearly are aware of the following, which easily shows your referenced Grand Canyon "research" to be not only misleading, but obviously and deliberately so.
