Can you get a very sharp image enlarging to 11X14 with a 1.8 sensor or just acceptable? Notably speaking of the Canon A630.

The Canon A630 is an 8MP camera, producing images (if set at full size) of 3264 x 2448 meaning that for prints of 11x17", you would have a print dpi of 192. This is certainly acceptable, and good printers will interpolate the original data and produce sharper prints than you would think. I've found that images over 150dpi can usually look very very good.

This is assuming that you don't crop your images very much, i.e. that you print full frame.

The manual says that you can print up to 11.7x16.5" with an A630 and 16.8x23.8" with the A640. Either one is still above 200 pixels per inch, so it woudl translate well enough to over 200 dpi, which is fine.

I have not printed that large from my SD900, but my crops have certainly pushed the image to the same limits. I mean, I have used about half a frame to print an 8x10, for instance. I believe Canon's figures are accurate based on my personal experience.
