Mosf of my girlfriends who are single are in that position but single men that i know of are not really so...Is love a test of patience for women and not for men?

Men and woman's emotions are different, and we deal with them differently as well. Woman tend to be more emotional than males and in that we have different needs. My friend is male and terribly loney, and struggling to find love, hoping it will just land on his doorstep. That is a rare thing. So maybe its just that men are better at hiding their feelings and needs than we are.

The problem with women is that they feel they can never be happy unless they have that "one" person to love.
You said it yourself "waiting desperately for it to happen".
Like there is nothing in life except a relationship with a guy, and no fulfillment of happiness can be had without one.
Yes, some guys are like that too, but many can understand that there is a lot of life to live besides sitting around "desperately" waiting for "the one" to come along.
That's how women get caught up in crappy relationships.
When a guy starts to date them, they fall all in love immediately because they have been "waiting desperately" as you say. Then the guy turns out to be a jerk and they get their hearts broken.

Guys tend to be less emotional and love-oriented than girls. But there are girls out there who are players, who like sleeping around and get bored with one man easily. I used to be one of them! But admittedly this phenomena is seen more in men than in women. It may be because women are historically conditioned to wait for the right man

That's not necessarily true. Boy, if you knew my ex-best-guy-friend who was in love with me for five years (and probably still is, although he's gone away), you'd see.
Your question has suddenly reminded of a favorite quote of mine (and I wish I knew who to attribute it to): "A man wants to be a woman's first love. A woman wants to be a man's last romance."
When you think about it... it's really true, it's it?
