nope ... if a room isn't clean, or you just don't want others to see it... leave the door shut. when you near that room, just say "it's a bit of a disaster in there" and continue on with the rest of the tour :o)

It all depends on the person that you are showing the home to. Some might find it rude and others might not care at all. The ones that find it rude will probably think that there is something wrong with the room you're not showing them. (Example: messy room) Unless your selling your home to someone (which I'm assuming your not) then it's your prerogative whether you show all the rooms or not. People are generally nosy so they probably want to see all of your rooms.

No, even Queen Elizabeth, of the UK, does not show all of her rooms at Buckingham Palace, or Windsor Castle, when you've not just asked, but paid to go and have a viewing.

There is no obligation on anyone to display any of their rooms, let alone all of them, to anyone who has asked - it's rather impolite of them.

Just breeze out something like 'I'll show you the main rooms, that are ready and presentable', that way you're saying more about yourself, rather than a potential slur on the suitability of the person to see everything and everywhere in your home. It's definitely ok to have some privacy!

It isn't rude. It's your home and you can offer what you will. Have doors closed and pass them by. Sometimes people are uncomfortable going through bedrooms and it's perfectly fine not to show them. I would never personally ask for a tour. I prefer that the host/hostess suggest it.

No. Just tell them the room is a mess or something to that effect and go on with your tour. It's your house, if you don't want someone to see something you don't have to show them.

If this is a housewarming or other gathering where most of your guests have never seen your home, yes it's rude. You should be prepared to show the entire house. If this is a drop in guest or a party years after you've lived there, then feel free to say no.

not really because some of the rooms in your home may be messy and you would not want your guests to leave your house with a bad impression of you for not keeping the house clean...

Not really, it's your house - some people are private about their bedroom for example. I'm sure the people asking for a tour would respect that.

its your home, and if you don't wanna show all the rooms.. don't show them...
I think its rude to invade someones privacy.. so if someone gets insulted over it, its them who are rude.
