I will give you a few references to help:
The first is in the book of John; Chapter 14, verse 2: "In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

Second is found in Ether: 12, vs.32: "And I also remember that thou hast said that thou hast prepared a house for man, yea, even among the mansions of thy Father, in which man might have a more excellent hope; wherefore man must hope, or he cannot receive an inheritance in the place which thou hast prepared."

In first Corinthians, Chapter 15, verses 40 and 41 we read:
"There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory."

There is more scripture that relates to the three degrees of Glory and Outer darkness but, that is a story for another day.

I don't know about the Mormons, but it mentions the 3rd heaven in the Bible. (2 Co12:2).
If you want to look into the Hebrew and Greek words, Heaven sometimes means atmosphere, and sometimes the stars, which implies levels.

Paul gives some vague references, but Paul hijacked christianity and Romanized it for the Masses.

Emmanuel Swedenborg published several books in the mid 18th century that describes much of what Joseph Smith was searching for, and "Heaven and Hell" describes the three 'kingdoms of heaven" some 40 years before Smith was born. Smith wasn't the first to have 'visions', Swedenborg had several. He also recorded them right after he had them, not 8 years after he wrote a book.

"In April of 1745 ...while dining alone at an inn where he often went, Swedenborg noted that the room seemed to grow dark. He then saw a vision, and an apparition spoke to him. When the room cleared again Swedenborg went home to his apartment, considerably stirred by his experience. During that night he again saw the vision. A spirit reappeared and spoke with him regarding the need for a human person to serve as the means by which God would further reveal himself to men in somewhat the manner of the biblical visions of the Old Testament."

Sound familiar? The difference is the Swedenborg was an acknowledged scientist, Smith was merely a poor imitation of a wannabe.
