I have to agree with the tomato soup and grilled cheese. There isn't a better meal on a cold rainy day.
My other top three comforts: My grandma's Sunday fried chicken dinner with the works, my mom's chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk, and my own meatloaf with mashed potatoes and fresh peas.

My grandma's "scthuff". It was a cream based soup made from sorrel leaves. It has pork, potatoes, sour creme and vinegar to make it a bit sour. Or her beet soup or pierogies. My grandma is polish so you probably may not have heard of these dishes. But they are very good, very inexpensive and even better as leftovers. Another dish is kluski. It is potatoe dumplings mixed with cottage cheese and bacon. Yum, yum.....

peeps. my siblings and i used to have peep microwave-offs. (You stick a toothpick into a peep and place on a plate. Do this again. The peeps should face eachother so it looks like they are sword fighting. Then put the plate in the microwave and turn it on. The peeps will expand and the first one to fall over, loses.)
and peeps taste delicious!
