I recently purchased an Ox Mainspring and would like to install it into my BSA Lightning myself to boost the power in my rifle. I tried taking it to my gunsmith and they told me they had to limit the power to 12ft/lbs which is the legal limit in the UK if they install it.

Is there a way I can install it myself?

OR

Could I get someone else to install it without restricting it such as saying , "I wouldn't use it in the UK" or anyway to get them to install it and not restrict it?

Any ideas would really be appreciated,
Jack

I use a Gammo air rifle with a BSA 4x40 scope for rodents. capable of shooting 1250 feet per second with performance ballistic alloy 177 cal. pellets One drop of light machine oil turns it into a diesel. It does have a bull barrel so it is strong enough to handle the extra pressure. I just wonder what the neighbors would think if they saw smoke coming out of the barrel. I am glad in Texas air rifles are not regulated. I noticed my rifle did not come with complete disassemble instructions.
