Alway wondered about this. The witnesses preach that they are all going to live happily ever after on the earth and everyone else will be destroyed! Should Jehovah's witnesses join forces with the Amish? From what I can see the Amish people are already living the simple paradise community life the witnesses preach about??

They're almost the opposite. The Amish believe Jesus is God With Us. The Amish live very private lives and you could not get one of them to knock on doors.

The JW live completely in the world and use whatever modern conveniences they can afford. The Amish avoid the world and modern conveniencees as much as possible. They don't do that because the things themselves are sinful, like electricity. They do it to avoid being ensnared in the world. If you have electricity, you have an electric bill. It must be paid with money. You can see where this goes in a community that trades, barters and provides for each other.

Not really, Amish have their own community were all other facilities are included,as I believe, hospitals, farm, etc. They literally take the bible verse John 17:14, to be 'no part of the world.'

JW understood, that this means, the spirit of the 'world' were immorality and sin dominates.

Witnesses do not preach " that they are all going to live happily ever after on the earth and everyone else will be destroyed."

The bible speaks of the righteous and unrighteous being ressurected (Acts 24:15)...and they do teach that. Dont know where you got the idea.

One fundamental difference between the Amish and the Jehovah's Witness is that the witnesses do not claim to a simple life and enjoy all the modern conveniences of this life. I would imagine there would be many, many more differences. The Amish don't go from door to door either. Hardly any similarities at all, I think.

we are not like the amish. we live in homes with electric, and water, tv and radio and guess what. a computer also. as far as living to together on a paradise earth, read ps 37 verse 11 in the king james bible. that is for everyone. Jehovah God did not change his mind. the devil lied to Adam and Eve and slandered Jehovah and when Jehovah told them not to eat from the tree that they would die.The Amish live in one state, we as Jehovah Witnesses are in 236 lands worldwide. we follow the bible. the Amish use horse and buggy and we drive our own cars. we worship Jehovah God and do what Jesus Christ commanded at Matthew 28 verses 19 and 20. we are not a cult. a cult worships man. see the website at www.watchtower.org

No, nothing like the Amish. We drive cars, have televisions and radios. We wear modern clothes. The women wear jewelry and make-up and pants. What makes us different is that we live our lives by the standards found in the Bible. We try to follow Jesus' footsteps as closely as possible. We do stay separate from the world and that's why they think the things about us that they do, because they can't understand how and why we do that.

The best way to find out more about Jehovah witnesses is to go to the source. The next time you come in contact with a Jehovah witness ask them these questions.

No.

While both Jehovah's Witnesses and Amish are Christian faiths, there are few beliefs which are common to both theologies and simultaneously distinct from other self-described Christians. Really, the only significant commonalities are the rejection of idolatry (including flag-salute and worshipful use of the cross) and neutrality (including conscientious objection to military service).
