You are completely free to disagree with our beliefs. But PLEASE have a little common courtesy and respect!
Don't you realize that it is deeply hurtful and offensive to us when you insult and blaspheme God?
You say things about Him that I wouldn't say about the worst kind of person.
Please, have some respect for our views like you ask us to do for you. Please!

I agree that respect is a two way street. I try to show respect for others.. maybe sometimes I let my sarcastic sense of humor or my temper get away with me, but I try not to. And I'm definitely not trying to justify anything I may have said that was offensive to someone, but I am just shocked at the things some people say here. Horrible things, that everyone would consider offensive if directed at another human. This disgusts me!

Mr. Bad Day -
Yahoo Answers is no different than real life. The fact that it's a website is no excuse, and does not make any comments any less offensive. The fact of the matter is, I'm a real person and the people saying these things are real people. How is there any difference between someone calling me a 'f***ing c*cky gal' on here or at my job? They are both offensive and hurtful!
(And to the person who said that - I know that you said it merely because I asked people to be respectful... I was just using you as a handy example.)

I guess I should clarify something that I just assumed people would know - I'm not talking about all of those who disagree with me here. I'm talking about the people who deliberately call Christians and God by rude and hateful names.

I agree with your sentiment, but I'd also call on Christians to show the same respect to everyone else.

How can u call what the christians do, "respect"?
I dont mean to be rude or mean or anything. I'm a muslim, and muslims believe in Jesus too, but we just dont believe that he's the son of God or anything, we believe he's one of God's prophets.
As far as I know, in God's book (the Quran), God told us to not disrespect christians. And we dont.
I would just like to say, that the people who think they are muslims, and disrespect christianity and christians, you will find that they are hollow, empty people, who never pray or would just use the word "muslim" as a title.
-The christians have mistaken the muslims, for a side in islam that shouldnt have been a side at all, the hypocrites. I also understand that there are christian hypocrites too, but i just leave that to them, cuz our God told us to respect christians, whether they are really christians or not. There are websites that make fun of everything in islam, they change the words of our book just to make people laugh, and the funny thing is, they think they are winning or giving other religions a favour, well guess what? THEY'RE SO NOT.
I'd just like to stand out and tell this to everyone. If u see a bad person as a muslim, just know that its a hypocrite, because our religion is the very perfect example of respect, hope, belief, punctuality, and all the other good traits u can find in a person. Our religion has many obligations, which ofcourse has alot of hypocrites as an alternative. But no matter how much anyone of any religion makes fun of us, the good ones of us will always stand out.
So if u want to speak in terms of respect, then you'll have to ask everybody WHY do (most) christians disrespect muslims.

There is something not right with the fact that you are DEEPLY hurt & I sense that it has less to do with God & more to do with your religion.
Yes everyone should be respectful of one another. But God is all knowing, and mighty. I'm sure whatever ppl say on YA is not the 1st time he's heard it.

If you are hurt by the responses here, then maybe you are a little too thin-skinned for Y!Answers.
Whether Yahoo wants it to be this or not, there are lots of people who don't answer questions as much as sling mud at each other. Not that it's a good thing, but it is a reality of this website.

Think about what you have said. It is basically "please do not dissent from my view".
Blasphemy is defined as speech, thought or action manifesting contempt for or thoughts against god. It has variously been interpreted even to include statement of disbelief in god.
Meanwhile god - or his followers - do the most aweful things on earth. Without any respect at all. And religious laws are rammed down the throats of those who do not accept god. For instance, Sunday is still offered special legal staus in almost all western nations.
This is not just hurtful - it is injurious to those who do not share your view. And it is centuries away from being respectful (20 centuries, to be precise).

How many religious people tell the atheists that we are damned eternally in hellfire and other such bullcrap? Respect is a two way road, babe.
Personally I feel that people should not take offense by anything that is said here- it is all productive in order to generate more thought. If you can get someone's blood pressure up, I think it contributes to a positive discourse.

I saw a question by a young atheist girl today requesting the same thing from you folks and she got readily attacked with insults and sarcasm. Perhaps you should be passing your request along to your fellow believers because what kind of example are some of you presenting, especially since it is expected of you not to judge others? Maybe some of you can lead by example.

although i dont like anyone insulting anyone
you have to understand queenbee that this certainly goes both ways
so many people get insulted here by so called loving believers
i try to remain neutral here and still get called all kinds of nasty things and my beliefs are insulted constantly
but this is an open forum , you have to expect people not to share beliefs and to challenge them
so try and be stronger when this happens , have good answers ready , stay calm about it
but dont think it will all go away
xx

One of the most important lessons you have to learn is..become internally driven not externally. You have a choice not to reciprocate to such crap being written about your beliefs. In so doing you let the person have whatever he has written for himself.
Now you will find manymore to take a shot at you because you have made yourself look vulnerable.
NO one can make you feel bad without you accepting it...be internally driven not externally !!

Religion's very basis is in bigotry, especially towards other religions....if you're going to stand for something, be prepared to put some effort into it. The bible is a very violent collection of readings....what makes you think everything would be pink and fuzzy? Sorry sister, but according to your own prophecies, you need to get off the fence and balls-up to the line.
