No. That would be awfully crass and American. Deep inside every Englishman is the notion that his is a country of profound greatness. We do not need to shout it. And please let us not forget that moaning about England is almost as big a national institution as talking about the weather. It's just something we do. Only a fool would take our moaning to mean we don't love our country, just as only a fool would believe we actually give a toss about the weather.

YES YES YES YES YES YES.............About time too! This is one thing that the Americans do well.....PATRIOTISM!!! We have lost all sense of it and need to instil this into our children. This has always been a great nation and all evryone seems to do is moan about it....it's not the nation....it's some of the morons governing this nation! If each of us took some serious pride in this lovely country we could turn it around! So, YES YES YES...Great question, by the way!

My friend, I agree with you totally...unfortunately, it seems that in today's pathetically politically correct world, the left wing militia would stamp on you for daring to utter such a phrase....don't want to upset or offend anyone, do we now.....?
As far as I'm concerned, I'm English first, British second....and I will NEVER be a European....
