Nope! i haven't wanted the windows default disk-scanner! i know that long long before you told it!

Try to use the default windows error checking program by right clicking the drive > properties > tools tab
Rebooting the pc is a good idea as it clears all unnecessary items. Try to scan after you reboot so that the system will run more effectively.

Go to trendmicro.com and run the free housecall program. It will take a while to run and does not require a reboot.
