How many girlfriends did you have before you found your wife or husband? Did anyone out there have just one? Also, how old were you when you found him/her and how long did you go out before you knew that he/she was the one to grow old with?

I can't count how many girlfriends I had before I met my wife. However, I can tell you that I only met "one" other person before my wife that I really wanted to marry. In both cases, I knew as soon as I had met them that I really wanted them in my life. The first one I walked up to and said, "you're going to be my girlfriend and I think we might get married after high school." She didn't even know my name at the time. 2 months later we were bf/gf and we stayed that way for the next 4 years...and we almost got married after high school. I met my wife 6 years and countless girlfriends later, and on the night I met her I went home and wrote in the journal I was keeping at the time that "all my bachelor alarms went off tonight, I think I may have met the woman I'm going to marry." My future wife didn't want to go out with me because she said I was a playboy and she wasn't interested. Her sister convinced her to give me a go and we got married 10 months later. We've been happily married for 27 1/2 years now. So, I "knew" right away in both cases, but my other half's didn't know for some time afterwards.

I had 13 girlfriends prior to meeting my fiancee. When I met her, it just clicked in my head that I had a special girl. We dated for a little under a month before my heart and head came together and told me "This is it, fool! Make it last, cause there won't be another one like her!"
