I want to respond to the insinuation that atheism is a religion and that we only harass christian's. Including all the atheists that I know, all of them consider all belief in a god a hallucination. There are no rites or acts for atheists to consider or do to practice atheism....I don't practice atheism, I have no belief in a being higher than what science has proof of. I don't worship anything accept my husbands body and although that is religiously there is no doctrine to go with it. Unless you consider Hustler doctrine......well, let me think, maybe it is a religion after all.....hilarious....anyhow...did you know atheist homes have the least domestic violence, divorce rate, etc....check it out, I wonder why....

I think atheists have lost the meaning of what atheism is supposed to be. Christians are taught that it is their duty to spread the word of God to share The Truth with all of humanity, right? Atheists see this sort of behavior as ridiculous, which is not unnatural since they believe that there is no Higher Power in the universe. What do they do with this belief? They copy the Christians' behavior and try to share The Truth with all of humanity. If the truth is that there really is no higher truth, what is the purpose in trying to spread that higher truth? What is there to gain?

I also think it's interesting how they only seem to want to attack the Judeo-Christian God when there are so many other gods/religions that they are completely ignoring which, at first glance, look even more bizarre than Christianity. They may believe that everyone has the right to follow whatever religion they choose, and that is possibly why they don't say anything bad about said religions..... while having no qualms about trying to get people to think that Christianity is something completely foolish.

EDIT: Stay strong, queenbee. You're right too; atheists have no proof behind what they say anyway. All they have is faith, just like us.

My personal opinion is that atheism is an incorrect theory of thought. I'm a theist and a Christian, but I believe that there is plenty of evidence that points to a creator. Even the big bang needs a banger.

My husband is an atheist and he's a very loving and kind person.
I am not an atheist nor am I a Christian (Buddhist Yogini) and sometimes I think he's got a more open heart than I do. I feel he has reasons why he doesn't believe and there isn't anything I can or want to change about that. Namaste

Why not? Its their belief. Thats cool with me. It doesn't bother my Goddess worshiping ways for other people to not believe in her. Thats their path. I'm on mine.

All the atheists i've ever met have been smart, kind people too. That may come as a suprise for the people on Y!A R&S who have only met atheists on the board.... Outspoken Atheists here can be a tad mean... But I really believe that people give them a bad time, which may cause them to be a bit meaner in the first place.

Atheism is the natural progression. Alchemy gave way to chemistry. Astrology gave way to astronomy and someday religion will grow up too. Become pure philosophy maybe.

Atheists are the people with the courage and clear headedness to accept the facts whether they are pleasant or comforting or not.

Atheists make a valued judgement based on evidence and research.

Christians etc. simply believe what they are told from childhood into adulthood without a shred of evidence to support it. Which is not a problem for me apart from the fact that it shows them to be very gullible and extremely lazy. And of course it can result in a fundamentalist belief, which then becomes very dangerous.

We are all entitled to our opinions on religion or the lack thereof. Atheism is the natural progression away from Christianity. Most people who leave Christians faiths do so with such a sour taste in their mouths they see no other alternative then to deny any existence of Allah (god) and live their lives as they see fit. we always hope the best for them and hope that one day they will be able to embrace the religion that makes them feel complete.

Cherish and honor every human being. Find the common ground. Build bridges. Be a power for integration not disintegration. Doing that does not require that we agree on everything. Do you agree with your best friend on everything? Appreciate diversity. We can learn from everyone.
