Is it better that Windows XP? once i download it is Windows XP no longer running? What is Linux better for? Where can i download it free?

nearly all linux distros are free. one of the most popular is Ubuntu. I also like OpenSUSE and Fedora. most of these dristro's have "LiveCD's" which means you can boot it from a cd without installing it over your current OS. linux is great if you like to have complete control over your system. most programs are run via the "Terminal" similar to the windows Run command.

If you just want to try Linux out to see if you like it you can always try downloading Knoppix, a version of Linux that you can boot from a CD without installing the system to your hard drive. It gives you a chance to try it out without installing it.

Nope its nice and everything but u cant use it for transferring music to your mp3 player....Even though its free its not that supported just stick to PC
