download software called ACEMEGA CODEC Pack from softpedia.com

U cant download any codec as it is not available. It is just impossible 2 play real media files with WMP.

This is because the real media video/audio codec is not supported by windows media player . You can use third party software to convert it to .avi (as you mentioned, you may already have one). But the most important, when you convert the rmvb/rm file to avi, you should choose the output file's video codec as wmv(or something like wmv2) and the audio codec as wma(if it not work, you should try mp2 mp3 etc.). wmv means windows media video codec, wmv means windows media audio codec. If it not work, you should try the codec settings

IT IS FREE AND IT CAN PLAY MANY TYPES OF AUDIO AND VIDEO WHICH ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.

AFTER INSTALLING THIS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY IT IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.

You can download real alternative which allows you to play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer/RealOne Player.

Windows Media Player can't play files with .ra, .rm, and .ram file name extensions. RealPlayer from RealNetworks is required to play these files.
