7 Proud Muslimah: This is a modest request. In all due respect, please try and limit the length of your responses. You're certainly welcome to respond and while I appreciate you taking the time, it's a bit much for others, including myself, to scroll through. If you don't want to answer the question, it's okay with me OR if you just want to give me grief, that's okay too...just do it with a bit less verbosity?

Well? This question looks dead? So, I guess it's time for 'best answer'. Unfortunately, I just can't decide what's the best one.
My preferences, in no particular order:
I'm superior to you
Vicarious Cynic
timothy
IWF
PATRICK the CARPATHIAN
PickleChickie
Jips
tim s
usafbrat6
These answers were specifically direct to the question. The others were, while valid, too general.
I'm gonna' have to let the voters decide.
Thanks to everyone and may the best avatar win.

I'm going out on a limb and saying when over 900 members of The People's Temple decided to take their own lives and murder those who didn't want to commit suicide. Although I automatically question any religion that says there religion is the only way and spews hatred toward non followers.

It's not my place to make fun of another religion, so I'll pick on my own denomination - Lutheran. Depending on the congregation, women are not allowed to do the Bible readings during worship. We just spent 4 years in a church, that aside from this one thing, I dearly loved. I have no problem with not being able to read the Gospel lesson, but the old testament reading and the epistle? What can I say... we had a group of OLD German Lutherans, who were still in the 1950's!

Atheism that BELIEVES there is no god.
I have several atheist friends. They are well educated, and polite, and respect religious freedom even if they think it is silly to be religious. They DO NOT believe God doesn't exist.
They simply see no reason to believe in him, any more than they believe in unicorns or the tooth fairy.
These I respect.
But why would you fall into an UN-scientific, illogical belief that God CANNOT exist? What proof do you have? And then to drag your sorry needy ego in here to bash everyone Else's beliefs? That's sad.
Reasoned questions to make the religious think, that's one thing, but we have people arguing things Christians left behind centuries ago, who forget that Islamic still believe those same things and others and actually practice them, and think that the religious are being silly?
What is more silly than an atheist with a religious belief?
My respects to the educated Atheists who don't feel this need and add much to the discussions here at Yahoo! Answers. Please distinguish yourselves from these "believers". You don't deserve the rap, anymore than Christians who are no longer literalistic do for the literalistic.
