My question is; When does a car that is in the pits officially get credit for the lap they are on when they make a pit stop....on tracks that have pit road straddeling the start/finish line? Does the start/finish line stretch across the pits?

When a car passes the start finish line on pit road this completes the lap as if they were on the track.
Talladegas start finish line is not cross pit road,it is nearly in turn number 1.

Yes. I remember a few years ago Jeff Burton took advantage of this during The Winston, when during the first segment (in which a Mandatory Pit Stop had to be taken), Burton pitted on the very last lap right before crossing the finish line on Pit Road.

Whenever a driver is on pit road and he crosses the start finish line that stretches across pit road the driver still completes the lap.

exactly what fuel43 said. that line goes through the pits, and once they cross it, they just completed the lap and the new one begins, just like if they were still racing out on the track.

It was Dover pondering communities had to share a container. one ought to argue Martinsville or Bristol yet i don't understand if obnoxious is the final word. exciting may well be a greater constructive description. i could say any pit street on which Tony Stewart is at present status on and talking is the main "obnoxious" one.
