No, read Romans 13, it talks about obeying the laws of the land. It says the God established all governments and authorities and we are to obey those laws of the land. So, if the law of the land says you have to have a marriage license in order to be married, then you have to have one. Other wise God will not acknowledge it. It will be just sexually immorality, but like I said, it's according to the laws of the land.

God would consider a couple to be married if they did what their culture accepted as a marital agreement. Marriage is a thing of society, and it involves a couple making a committed declaration before men of their choice to be together. In America, and many other countries, this entails the wedding ritual, but can include an elopement, and, in some states, a common-law marriage. Basically, if a couple is committed to each other in a marriage arrangement, and society's practice agrees with them, God, also, would consider them married.

Marriage in God's eye is marriage no matter which religion you come from. God isn't ignorant. God doesn't say in the Bible, "Marry in a small Chapel, in the country, on a sunny, breezy day." I think its apparent that God accepts other religions and traditions. Jesus was actually a Jew, but He was the basis of a new religion; Christianity. So I really don't think it matters all that much.

Marriage is a holy covenant between a man and a woman who take vows to stay together for life before God and at least two witnesses. Here's what the Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth.
1 Corinthians 7:2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. 3 The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
Being married "in God's eyes" is just an excuse to have sex and to try not to feel like you are doing anything wrong.

I think so, but you must follow through with all that involves marriage. Like being faithful, taking care of your wife and kids and being a faithful follower of God. Don't expect to have the benefits without the responsibilities.

Let's be clear about this - the universe (supposedly created by your god) is huge. It's like, really, really big. So big in fact that it is a serious challenge to even conceptualize.
Our planet is relatively small. Its plagued with all sorts of nasty problems like starvation, incurable diseases, horrific wars and genocide.
Why does anyone think that, with all the REAL problems in the world "god" would care about something as relatively inconsequential as social contracts between two people?
Sigh ....

Well, I would assume that God's eyes would be gigantic, so you could probably have a wedding in them. The rent would probably be pretty high though.
