First of all make sure that the girl you are marrying is not an illegal, or you'll both be in trouble.
After you are married, get a good immigration lawyer to help you with your papers so you can get a green card. There's a good chance that you will not be sent back to mexico if your papers are in order and your record is clean (no crimes committed here). You do need to show proof that you are living with your wife, and your marriage has to last for at least 2 years. The lawyer can tell you more about the interview; be ready bec the interviewing officer will ask personal questions. Just remember that the important thing is to tell the truth. After you get your green card, if you want to apply for citizenship, you will need to be physically present here for 5 years.
Good luck.

Hi Victor
Welcome to America.
My former partner (a Para legal) used to do immigration for many years during the last Amnesty.
To apply from the USA, you need to show 2 years of living together, you need to prove it, Bills, rent, bank, tv, gas electric, car etc, preferably in joint names but can be separate but at the same address though. At the interview you will be asked questions that you would know if you have been living together for 2 years so answer them correctly. Of course you should get married too.
The process takes 6 months to 1 1/2 years depending on the state you apply from.
You could also drive back to Mexico via car and apply from there if you are not known as being here illegally, this process also takes a long time 6 months to 1 1/2 years. I would not go back if I were you it's too risky, they may find out something about you and prevent you coming back.
In all instances do consult a good (specialist) immigration Lawyer or Paralegal to get proper advice about your unique situation before doing anything, Lawyers who are foreign descendents sometimes know easier ways around any issues that you may have so take your advice from 3 different professionals before deciding with who you go with.
Good Luck

You'll be ok.
My wife is from Argentina. I am a US Citizen. I sponsored her green card so I know how to do it.
You can still get your green card if you get married even if you have stayed illegally. However, you should hire a good attorney to help you with the interview. Make sure you get married first and follow the procedures correctly to get status. Good Luck!

No, you are going to be able to go back to Mexico and stay. I think the point is that Americans have payed too much taxes for illegals to be wasting it on searching and sending back people who want to sponge off the American economic system and send the money back to their country. If your girlfriend is legal, then maybe you have a shot, if you arent reported first. If shes illegal, no chance. Sorry.

I'd really like to know why you came here illegally. You will have to follow procedures but you take a chance of being deported for a while.

One of the procedures involves a 5 year ban if you crossed illegally. You need to speak to an attorney.

Brad, did your wife COME illegally, or overstay a visa? From what I have read, it makes a difference. An attorney would know better.

I could unload on you, but it would be a waste of time. You're being honest about the situation ("Illegally), and the first poster is right. I'm just seconding his comment. Get an attorney. This could end badly otherwise. Bring your girlfriend so she is informed.

Yes you can get legal papers but you have to go back to mexico before or they will fine you for illegal entrance.
Get married first, have your girlfriend pay good taxes so she can sponsor your green card and go to an attourney, taht is a must.
Good luck

We need a poster-boy like you, how long have you been working, can you prove it. What do you do in America, do you pay taxes, whom has hired you while you've been here. Do you love this girl or are you using her. Have you received any benefits or visited emergency clinics. Have you committed a crime here or back home, except smuggling yourself in. do you have any gang-banger tattoos. You could be a case study.
