Windows is easier to use for most people. Most people want to just use their computers to do stuff. They don't want to learn how their computers do things or learn how their computers actually work. They just want to surf the web or play games or download music files, etc. This is pretty normal.
With Unix (or especially Linux), you almost have to learn about your computer. Unix and Linux both have different window managers so you don't have to type in commands for everything, but many people are used to Windows and know where things are at. It's more comfortable for them.
With Windows, you don't have to think too much about what software you want to use or about doing lots and lots of customizations. It's pretty much pre-packaged and this is best for most people. Or, I should say, you don't have to think about it as much.

Well Windows is easy to use, and Unix is complex to use for the average user.
Unix is command driven. Most users are intimidated by Start>run>cmd
