Sunday-keeping Christians will tell you that it is because the law (i.e. Ten Commandments) was done away with and nailed to the cross. Yes, there are verses in the Bible that say that the law was nailed to the cross. What people don't realize is that it is not the ten commandments, and certainly not the fourth one, that was nailed to the cross, but the ceremonial law, such as sacraficing lambs. This was a foreshadow of what Christ would do for us on the cross, a symbol to help the people living before Christ understand what was to come. The seventh day Sabbath is not a foreshadow of what is to come, but rather a special day for Creator and creation to spend together. It is a day conscrated to God, a day that we should use to strengthen our relationship to Him. And God specifically outlines in the Bible that the seventh day is to be kept as a day of rest and worship, not Sunday. Also, the Bible gives no indication that the Sabbath was ever done away with or changed to Sunday. The only way Christians today justify this today is by misinterpreting scriptures. The fourth commandment is the only commandment that begins with the the word "remember." Also, all through the Bible it talks about how important this holy day is to God. Don't you think that for something as important as the Sabbath, God would have specifically outlined a change in His word if He intended a change to take place, not given sketchy verses here and there? The Sabbath is still relevant today. God never changed it. Man did through the ages, and we must obey God rather than man.

I hope all of this makes sense! I've given some Bible verses and websites that can explain it in much more detail! You should check them out, you will find useful insight! God bless you!

For me the reason is because all the churches open on Sunday. I wish they would open on Saturday. The only churches here that worship on Saturday are Seventhday Adventists and I disagree with some of their beliefs. We have a Seventh Day Baptist Church, but it's in a trailor that couldn't hold more than 20 people.Seems a little strange. If the main stream churches would worship on Saturday I'd be delighted.

You will have to read Hebrews Chapter 4. The writer of Hebrews talked about the Sabbath day. He explained that the Sabbath of the Law of Moses was a "shadow" of the true Sabbath to come. This is what I mean. Alot of things in the Law of Moses were symbolic and pointed to greater things to come in the New Testament. The Sabbath was no different. The Sabbath day of the Law of Moses was symbolic of the rest believers would have in the salvation of God through Jesus Christ. Once Jesus Christ came and died and went back to heaven, the true promise of the Sabbath was fulfilled. Now all those who enter into God's salvation have "rest", an eternal rest. Remember, the Law pointed to greater things. So, for the believer in Christ today, everyday is the Sabbath, and everyday is holy. Read also Colossians chapter 2, this will also help.

There are three main reasons why we go to church on Sunday. First, Jesus resurrected on Sunday (the day after Sabbath). Next, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles on a Sunday as well. Finally, Jesus ascended into Heaven on Sunday as well.

Since this day was a very special day for early Christians, they gathered together in small community on Sunday. I am not really sure about the specific doctrine that made Sunday the official day of worshiping God but I guess Christians worship on Sunday because of tradition.

IF you believe in Jesus and do the will of God, then you are not under the 10 commandments. Jesus is the sacrificial lamb that shed his blood for you and cleansed all sins from you.

God siad a day of rest but you must go to church to learn his word.

DO THE WILL OF GOD

You need to find a home church, be obedient, follow his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, show your self approved and do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18)

That's a good question. Although the 7 Day Adventists go on
Saturdays, not Sundays. And I think Jewish people go on
Saturdays also. But back in our nations' history it was prohib-
ted to work on Sundays completely. So people did their
cooking on Saturdays and fed cold meals on the sabbath, so
they'ed be work free. Or mostly so anyway, since there was
still dishes to do LOL.

Because Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Law of Moses and freed us from being slaves to the Sabbath. He showed plainly that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, so whether you worship on Saturday, or Sunday, or whatever day, the point is to take a day of rest every week and meditate on (worship) God. The Sabbath was a gift to be celebrated; it was not intended to be something we became slaves to. Oh, and if you're going to insist on Law of Moses Sabbaths, you have to take the Sabbath year, and the year of Jubilee, so better start saving up!

Mmm, hello, Sunday is about keeping it holy, so what better way is there to keep it holy than to go to church & worship the Lord? Being in church helps you stay out of trouble.

It says to "keep the SABBATH" holy. Besides, it was only about 1000 years ago or so that we started using a calendar with the week starting on Sunday.

Because we set aside one day to worship in today's society. Jesus said that everyday is holy, and we should worship God everyday, not just Saturday. So there is no benefit to recognizing the Jewish Sabbath. If you are bound by the Law, you shall die by the Law. I will die with the grace of Jesus and accept him as the only path to heaven.
