Ahhhh, The spoken word, I *wonder* what that is? Is it a sound or maybe something else? The movement of a butterfly or two lovers caught up in the moment. If it doesn't have that zing, well it don't mean a thing. ~*~

The creative power of the spoken word is structure.
The spoken word is a cultural construct which is
designed to implement structure. I do not dispute
that vision provides the most information, but that
information certainly isn't as structured as vocalized
direction. If I observe someone doing something
which appears to lack structure I ask "what are
you doing?", I don't wait until the line of vision
happens to shift by chance to regard my staring
unless I want to be waiting for a long while. That said,
I don't expect immediate attention, but rather an
intent to bring my concern to the attention of the
recipient, so that the recipient is aware that someone
is waiting for a convenient moment for discussion;
if I don't know someone is standing nearby then I am going
to keep on trucking. Furthermore, after asking the question
I don't expect the person to continue what they were doing
as if nothing was said, as if the action is clarification. If
seeing the action was clarification I wouldn't have asked the
question in the first place. Therefore, the creative power of
the spoken word is interruption of the questionable
procedure. An individual can close their eyes, but they can't
close their ears. Of course, I am not advocating irrational
interruption. I am advocating interruption in any situation
which requires misunderstood involvement. Better an
interruption in the present than a hazard in the future.
I don't think anyone would appreciate being the worker
who puts their life into an ignorant co-workers hands.

the creative power of the spoken word is wonderful - use words of kindness and watch a child come to life; use the words of encouragement and see a person with doubts do the impossible; use words of love and see the face of an elderly person smile; use the words of understanding and see a world live in peace - the power to create life, encouragement, smiles, peace, love and more are all found in the creative power of the spoken word -

God "said" let there be life - and life was created

Well, whatever humans create is first a thought. When it is spoken, the thought empowers it, the intensity of thought being carried through the speaker, is directly proportional to the intensity of the thought itself. Thoughts too are physical, so, can be very creative.
"Curse" owes its popularity to spoken word just because, often it is better focused , full-powered, leaving little scope for countermanding or self-defeating/self negating thoughts(though it is possible to empower all spoken words the same way !) .

When words are spoken from a wellspring of wisdom, they resonate with such power, they will shift whoever hears them.
When the words are conveying the realized experience of the speaker, they will bring some of that experience directly to you, the listener. The depth is real, and you can feel it, taste it, smell it.
They have such power, the listener may not even agree with the speaker, and yet still they will respond, not react.

When words are parroted, recited, with no basis in self knowledge, they ring hollow. There is no power, it is annoying rhetoric.

The clearer I find myself to be, the more my own words bring what I speak of to me. I have to mind myself, and not speak out of old patterns or about junk. I can speak of a thing, and have it appear in a matter of moments, or hours. Such is the power of the spoken word in my world.....
Self realization demands self responsibility.

Michelle V.: Yes! and may I add:

We are literally speaking ourselves into existence if that tells you anything. (the Voice of God?)
"Let there be..." is a powerful opening statement.
It's no accident that many great teacher/healer/creators vocalized their intent as a way of facilitating the desired change.
Don't forget the power of the spoken promise,(I give you my word) and that verse, "...in the beginning was the word...and without it nothing was made..."

The spoken word of God, inspires us to live better lives. It empowers us with the building blocks as put down in his word to create within ourselves a better person. You do not have to be like others or anyone else. God expects us to be individuals, how else can we spark the same in someone else. Your relationship with God is a personal expression of how you can love and abide with the parameters of a Christ like life. No one can live your life for you, therefore your Christian experience cannot mirrow somebody Else's.
The spoken word, if really listened to, and taken to heart, will change your understanding of God's will in your life. It will take you to a place where God wants you to be. Each persons plain of Prayer, Tithing, Fasting and Reaching out to Others in the name of Jesus is as individual as finger print. Your walk with God should be just as individual. Studying God's word, either spoken or written will enlighten you and give you creative power, through God, to be the best Christian, Soul Winner, Testifier and overall good Human Being possible.

The power is in the person who speaks it. It is your life lived that gives power to your creative words. The greatest example perhaps is Jesus Christ when he stopped the storm and Moses when he parted the red sea.

Read Genesis ch 1. When God spoke and said let there be light and light appeared. Whenever God gets ready to speak, the Holy Spirit is there in position to bring what ever He says into existence. So, God spoke "words" and then the Holy Spirit took the "words" and brought the "words" into existence. It is the same for us who are believers in Christ. We can speak "words" as long as they line up with the will of God and the Holy Spirit will move on the words we speak by faith and bring it to pass. But the key is to speak the words out of your mouth and believe what you spoke and not doubt.

Words are vibrations of energy which can affect the energy of all other things because they are also composed of the same energy. In other words...words put out real power and force into the entire web of energy that is the universe.
