Well it depends on the type of tick. It may be easier to do that if it is one of those tiny deer ticks about the size of a pin head. I'd try tweezers too, just make sure that you get all of the tick.

no, not a hot needle.
Instead, use the small ember on a used matchstick. The bigger size and more direct heat make it easier.
The tough part is just getting your dog to stay perfectly still- try giving him a treat or a bit of cheese to chew on and keep him busy.
Press the still hot burnt match (no flame) on the tick, and it will let go.
One time I had a tick on me, and this worked fine.
Have tweezers handy to get it off when you're done.
Good luck.

I've had dogs for a long time and even yanked them off with my fingers. The trouble with that, though, is that the tick's head can get stuck in the dog's skin still causing irritation.
Hot needles are dangerous - you can poke the dog or yourself. I recommend using tweezers and then flushing that sucker down the toilet. Then I strongly recommend getting Advantage and applying it to your dog ASAP. Advantage is great at preventing (and even treating) flea and tick infestation on your dog. It may cost $$, but it's worth it.
Good luck!

put some oil, any kind all over his little tick body. it breathes through the skin. in a few minutes the ***** will let go or be pulled out easilly. be careful not to pull it off and not leave the head in, that can get infected.

Vaseline or oil around the head and it will pull itself out. Keep an eye on the bite for a week or so after removing because lime disease is horrible to deal with.

put rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover on a q-tip and hold it on it's head until it's head comes out. use tweezers and put it off but make sure it's head is out or it could get infected. you have to burn it cause there hard to kill
