I see ones that have like short life biographies on them.Like "Wife left with kids.Took house and facilities.Desperate for money and lift.Jesus is watching you!" and then I went about 3 streets over and one had an identical sign. Both streets are near an "ABC Liquer" so I gave em both a little change and asked if they really where what the sign said. One said yes,and the other said he just needed a little money to go to ABC,well atleast he told me the truth!

oh yea they still use them, and i've seen them hold them up with a freakin jar sitting next to them too wanting a hand out. have to watch donation jars in stores too, most of those are fakes as well. just people looking to scam you into a handout.
not to get off subject, but by ex-husband is paralyzed for the last 1 1/2 years. he receives all the benefits the gov't will give him. his family and wife have set donation jars out everywhere. guess what he did with the money? bought a brand new van and is using part of it to take me back to court to have his child support reduced!!
needless to say, i dont give handouts anymore!! haah

Yes, but some get more creative with them. My two personal favorites being:
"Ninjas killed my family, need money for kung fu lessons"
and
"Poor: Need money for hooker, drugs, and beer. Hey, at least I'm honest."
to be honest, they will attempt basically anything to try to get the money they need for whatever they need it for. Sign just happen to be convenient because they can't always talk to everyone.

No, now they have signs that say, "Give me money or I will move onto the empty lot by your house."

The homeless in my town use the excuse of being vets. "Please help," they beg with their carboard signs. "Hungry," they say. Screw them, i say, get a job and stop relying on public sympathy.
