Fact from fiction, truth from diction. Virginity is ALL ABOUT WOMEN. People want to believe the folly it is about men too. Men seek to rid themselves of any distinction of being a virgin(not having sex person). Because to them it is a badge of a loser. The be a girl's 1st(having her lose hers to him)gives him a sense of immortality. She nay get very busy after him with many others, and she may forget who some of them are. But she will never forget him, even if she can not remember his name. A guy having sex for the 1st time is basically just an event. Not an event where something changes permanently to him. where something was lost that could not be gotten back. If he want to in his mind be a virgin(novice)again. There is nothing to prove other wise. Not so with a girl. Her virtue is equal in importance to eyesight, skin, hearing, hair etc. But guys ALREADY have those. So they don't seek any of that from a girl. But to be the one to remove the hymen from her body forever. That makes him part of her history FOREVER no matter how she feels about him after. And she can say all she want it never happened and that she is a virgin, She won't have the good anymore. Like having a guitar without strings.

Okay, there appears to be some confusion about "virginity". Women are virgins, men are not. (you've heard of the Virgin Mary...but they don't call her son "the Virgin Jesus", do they?)
However, if a guy has never had sex with a woman before, he is commonly "called" a virgin, because the term, over time, has come to be considered as "never having had sex before".
The term virgin was originally used to describe a woman who could be "certified" as having never been with a man, and therefore had never been in a situation where any children born from her would be anyone's other than her husband's. It is why it is still a royal custom in England that the bride and groom are supposed to hang the bedsheets out the window the morning after the wedding: proof that the "woman" was a virgin, and that any decendents who would claim the throne would be the result of the "consumation" of the marriage accomplished that night.
A man can have sex and still pretend he's a "virgin", but not so a woman.

virginity is not distinct only to women, its also about men. What do mean by virginity, in the first place? is it like not having engaged in sex until your first night on honeymoon? If this is how you define it, then i say its not virginity, this regarding sex as sacred. This is true for both women and men. But when you say virginity is equated to dignity, and virginity is for women only then women has the dignity and that men has no dignity? So i guess its not an issue of virginity but an issue of honesty and regarding sex as sacred.

I think it's both. I feel society puts more importance and attention is put on womens virginity though... i don't agree tho. I think the man and the womans first time should be seen as important

Your question doesn't really make much sense, but statistically women are more likely to remain virgins until marriage than men.

It's about both people. Although woman feel more physically, both of you are giving up your bodies to someone and it requires an equal amount of love from partners so yes.

It is about faith and self control. Applicable to both - men and women. Gays are free of all this tension.
