Try to stay with him so he has someone. Why my grandma does (her dogs are terrified of thunder, fireworkds.. loud noises in general) is put them in her room where she has an ac and puts it on so it blocks some of the noise out. That way they won't be as loud and the dogs won't be as scared.

Here is how u solve your dog's fright of fireworks. Get a tape or dvd or CD of fireworks that makes the sound. Put your dog in a crate or confined area where he can listen to the tape. Put the tape on low, and if he seems calm for 5-15 minutes(preferably 10), the put the sound higher, but if he starts to freak out(whining or really freaking out) go back a step, but don't turn off the tape. If you do, the your rewarding his bad behavior, and he'd be more likely to do it next time. Also, if he whines the don't say something like "did the loud noise hurt your ears," because you'd be rewarding his bad behavior. Make sure that if he's calm then give him treats and plenty of praise. Good Luck!

First, don't act like anything special is going on. Don't be overcomforting. If you hug him and squeeze him because he's afraid, he will learn that acting frightened generates hugs from you - so he will continue to act this way. It may sound cruel, but what you need to do is act normal. You can give him a pet and tell him to sit or go in his crate, etc., but don't be too comforting.
Also, try to distract him with a treat or chew bone. He needs something to occupy his mind and time.
If all else fails, just keep him in his crate with a treat or two. Cover his crate with a blanket and let him rest. This may be best until the 4th is over.
Good luck!

I put my dog in the bedroom and put on a music CD and turned it up quite loud. I held my dog in my arms and he calmed down. Also make sure the lights are on in the bedroom so the flashing from the fireworks isn't so distracting. Good luck.

There is not much you can do for that. Try and keep him occupied with a toy or some treats or something. I'm sorry I'm only 13 but that works for my dog.

Play a stereo and give them a toy or treat to keep them occupied. To day was my puppy's first 4th of July and I took her outside with me to see them. And she was ok once she saw what the noise was coming from.

Its the sound, too loud for dogs. I'd try something to block the sound, like earmuffs or a thick towel wrapped around his head.
