New Earth Creationists?

Question

For all of you new Earth Creationists out there (who believe that the Earth is only 6,00 years old), I have a question for you: if the Earth is only 6,000 years old, how do you reconcile that with all of the fossils of the dinosaurs? I know that the Bible mentions something about a bohemeth (sp?), but science and fossil records show that man and dinosaur did not coexist, which would directly contradict the theory that the Earth is so young. In addition, how do explain such scientific methods as carbon-14 dating, which show the Earth to be much older than 6,000 years? For example, there has been artwork found that has been dated as far back as 30,000 BCE (the "Lion-Human Statue"). I am not looking for an argument, nor am I trying to be insulting. I would just like to know your reasoning behind your beliefs. If you are answering, please be respectful of each other and of me. Thanks!

brother michael - the fossil records show that man and dinosaur could not have co-existed because their remains have NEVER been found together, exceot some rather dubious footprints, which were never conclusively linked one way or the other.

john the baptist - I did not intend to sound as though I were attacking anyone in my last detail, but I have done research, and they could not have co-existed because their fossils have never been found together. As for the footprints, they are dubious at best (http://paleo.cc/paluxy.htm). If I had made up my mind about this, I wouldn't have wasted my time or yours by posting the question. I have learned to question EVERYTHING, and this is no different. If anyone is going on the defensive, it would be you. Please refrain from drawing incorrect conclusions, based on impressions of my attitude in things I have written (you know what they say about assuming). Ok, I'll give you the short answers, and a link to a website where you can find the long ones.

Fossils, man and dinosaur coexistance.
The consenses is that Noah's flood caused the layers that we see, and that it is only burial order based on things like density (some animals sank faster). This helps to explain many things that evolutionists have trouble with, like the cambrian explosion, living fossils, lack of transitionary forms, etc...The bible is not the only place where dinosaurs are mentioned, there are things like sauropods next to buffolo in cave paintings etc. Then there is the soft tissue from blood vessels in bones which could not possibly be millions of years old.

Radiometric Dating:
Radiometric dating methods are imprecise and flawed. They assum the amount of the elements in the original, and that none of the parent-daughter elements have entered or left. They assum that Radiological decay is constant, when it has been proven that it certainly is not and polonium halos suggest that at some point in the past radiological decay was greatly accelerated. Other non-radiometric dating methods give absolut upper values to the age of the earth, some being as low as an absolute maximum possible age of 10k years.

Young-Earth creationism is actually very logical if you really look into it and everything can be explained within that framework.

I am a young earth creationist, I believe the biblical geneology record shows the age of the earth to be 6-8,000 years old. If you have any Bible search software, you can see that "dinosaur" isn't in the bible, but behemoth and leviathan ARE.
Who says that man and dinosaur did not coexist? Carbon-14 dating? Yeah, right, and students at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. used Carbon-14 dating on a live snail and got 14 million years.
Have you been to Glen Rose, Texas? Where there are human and dinosaur tracks side by side fossilized? I have not, but I plan to in the near future.
If evolution is true, where are the transitional fossils? Hmm?
Do you remember being told as a child in elementary school that coal was made by burying a forest under lots of earth and pressure and millions of years?
Did you know that when Mt. St. Helens erupted on May 18, 1980 it buried a forest? Did you know that US Geological Survey Maps show exactly the shape of the topography BEFORE the eruption? I do not deny that gravity exists, or that it takes light from the sun 8 minutes to get to the earth, or that the moon is about a quarter of a million miles away or any scientific facts.....but I see evolution as devoid of fact or theory. To me, evolution is a religion known as Humanism; and they are the ones who have something to prove, not God.
I'm not talking about bacteria changing in a petri dish in a laboratory; I'm talking about vertibrates changing form. There is NO EVIDENCE. WHERE ARE THE FOSSILS? Does not the record scream with its silence? How many known fossils are there? Yet, every "transitional" one ever "discovered" has later been shown a hoax. Neanderthal? Cro-magnon? Don't insult me.

Can you really look at the stars in a night sky and deny that there is a Master of the Universe?
Do you really believe the earth "evolved" to be just the right distance from the sun?

Some believe absolutely 6000 years, but most realize He had formed the earth, created vegetation and such before He created Adam. So, there was 'time' prior to Adam, but we do not know how long Adam lived before Eve.
Adam was in the Garden of Eden. He did not leave that place until after Eve, so there was more earth outside of the Garden. No details are given about the earth or the creatures outside the Garden.

It makes no difference how old the earth is. God through Satan and his angels down to earth when He kicked them out of the Heavens. How long did the earth exist prior to 'let there be light'?
And, Jesus tells us that a "day is like a thousand years" to God. Meaning that God's 'time' is not the same as our 24 hour day. So to try to disprove His existence is going to take a whole lot more than pointing to carbon dating.

You make several presuppositions that really cannot be proven. How does "science and the fossil record" show that humans and dinosaurs did not exist together? You simply assume it. In fact, are you aware that they found dinosaur bones which contain blood cells and hemoglobin? This would indicate thousands of years, not millions. Carbon 14 dating only dates in the thousands of years. Carbon-14 can only give a date of about 50,000 to 100,000 years maximum due to its short half-life-less than 6,000 years. Also, creationists have been using carbon-14 to undermine alleged "millions of years" dates. A carbon-14 isotope will completely decay in 100,000 years. Thus, if carbon-14 remains in a rock sample "proven" 200 million years old (by, e.g., uranium decay or potassium-argon), there are clearly flaws in at least one of the dating methods.
What the dating method used on the cave paintings? How reliable is it? Dating methods are often wrong or off. If you have a lava flow from a volcano yesterday, and did a potassium-argon test on it today, it would date into the millions of years due to the large amount of argon present, even though it is less than two days old.

Carbon dating is not accurate. Besides, if I have to choose the Word of Man or the Word of God, I'm going with God.

Dinosaurs are easy. Adam lived almost 1,000 years. Many people had long lives. God had created man to live forever, but sin kills. As time went by, we got shorter lifespans.

I say that to say this, man was not the only one with long life's. Animals also had long lives. Reptiles are cold blooded creatures that never stop growing. A chicken size dinosaur will be huge after 1,000 years.

The fossil records don't show that man and dinosaur lived together? There were very few people back then and so it would be difficult to find evidence (if not impossible).

This is what happen. All those fossils that look to be millions of years may be altered by what happened flood of Noah. Scientists know that. They know flood can do that. Just look at the rocks under the see, they look to be older than those on land. Even if they are not. Another thing is that evolutionists, according to this site http://www.newgeology.us/presentation32.html evolutionists say evolution cant not be seen taking place. Because it happens to slowly. I have always asked to evolutionists, can you give a example of an animal changing or evolving its genome to convert in another specie. a living animal.

That is why I don't believe in evolution.

I think you are right...Here's my explanation.
Don't confuse the earth with creation.

The dinosaurs lived on the earth before the story of creation. God said let there be light. Before that there was darkness and chaos and death.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was formless and void. Then God said let there be light. Between the formless and void and the 'let there be light" there were millions of years in between ....this in when the dinosaurs roamed the earth....

If you really want to get technically, when Satan was cast from heaven he and his angels were cast to earth and possible other planets. It is believed that Satan and his angels took the form of the reptile like dinosaurs and God destroyed them before he the creation. Didn't Satan take the form of a serpent in the Garden of Eden? How did God destroy them? By a meteor shower, big rocks.....I wonder why people were stoned in the biblical days. I don't know for sure....but it kinda makes sense.
