especially in light of our 'Independence Day'? Every day this country gets closer & closer to becoming a totalitarian regime. Yahoo is an example - another limitation put on our right to free speech.
Ah, but to the lyrics! The great Paul Simon, "The Cool, Cool River":
And I believe in the future
We shall suffer no more
Maybe not in my lifetime
But in yours I feel sure
Song dogs barking at the break of dawn
Lightning pushes the edges of a thunderstorm
And these streets
Quiet as a sleeping army
Send their battered dreams to heaven, to heaven
For the mother’s restless son
Who is a witness to, who is a warrior
Who denies his urge to break and run
Who says: Hard times?
I’m used to them
The speeding planet burns
I’m used to that
My life’s so common it disappears...
Or my favorite lyric:
"I believe in the future
I shall live in my car
My radio tuned to
The voice of a star"
What this country has become would have our forefathers rolling in their graves.

Hey, Angel Beth, instead of being your insultingly insipid self, how about answering some questions you actually know the answer to? This way, less people will have to put up with your derogatory comments. (((Angel Beth))) Thank you!

Oh golly, what WAS I thinking? I deserve all the torment I get. "What emotions are brought up..." Yech. How wishy-washy. Chalk it up to a "I'll ask it differently some other day" question.

Too many people on the bus from the airport
Too many holes in the crust of the earth
The planet groans
Every time it registers another birth
But among the reeds and rushes
A baby girl was found
Her eyes as clear as centuries
Her silky hair was brown
Never been lonely
Never been lied to
Never had to scuffle in fear
Nothing denied to
Born at the instant
The church bells chime
And the whole world whispering
Born at the right time
-Paul Simon

Auntie TB... you're gonna give away the lyrics and then that new tv show will be a moot point..... As for the future, I already live in my car... what station is the voice of a star on??? I'd like to hear that.... oh, wait, I get it... a 'star' as in Paul Simon... oooooh..... silly me. I was thinking Alpha Centauri.... geez.

Those lyrics seem very sad, but appropriate for our time.
Hey? I have a song for you too though! :P
*Sits down, picks up me guitar*...
Intro: (F#m-C#m-D-C#m-E)
Verse 1
How many (A) times do we (E) fight our (F#m) needless wars?
Why does (A) sorrow keep (E) knocking (F#m) at our door?
Why can't we (D) see one another for (C#m) who we are?
We've all got (Bm) feelings, after all, whether (E) near or far.
Chorus
We've gotta save our (A) people, our (E) continent, (D) our (A) land,
Gotta save our morals, the (E) peace for (D) which we (A) stand.
Live by (F#m) love, live in (C#m) truth, (D) live for (A) peace,
Build on (E) kindness, help (E7) love increase.
Verse 2
Aren't you just like (A) me? You've got a (E) mother, as (F#m) I've got a brother.
You've got (A) feelings to your (E) name; that (F#m) makes us the same.
Sorrow be(F#m)gins with me when I re(C#m)fuse to see
That there are (Bm) those that love you, as (E) I could too.
Repeat Chorus
Verse 3
How many (A) times do we (E) take what wasn't (F#m) meant to be ours,
Mistreating (A) human (E) lives in a(F#m)busing our powers,
Taking (F#m) chances at the cost of a(C#m)nother's dream.
I'm crying (Bm) out for help from the (E) God supreme.
Bridge
If we could all (F#m) hear what He (C#m) has to say,
We'd hear Him (F#m) saying, "Love (E) is the (F#m) way"....

Religion is born of fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear of death. Fear of the weather. Fear of outsiders... the list goes on. Primitive humans desperately wanted to categorize, and therefore control, the unknown. So they made up gods for all the things going on around them, and made up ways to appease those gods. This gave them a sense of security, and a feeling that they had some way to have a say in all the chaos around them.

Utter confusion.
But that's okay . . . I didn't get "Kodachrome," "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes," or "Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard," either.
I can still DANCE to all of 'em, though. *G*
