For varmint use, I would definitely choose Savage over any other. I love my Savage model 111 in 30-06 Springfield, I use it for deer. This rifle seems to me like it is overpriced, because Savage firearms aren't that expensive. But, that must mean it is good. I would go with the 22-250 Remington if you bought it. From groundhogs to coyotes, or even deer with a well placed shot, this caliber is hard to beat.

Great Rifle, but it is a single shot and expensive*.. If I were you I would buy a good used Remington Model 700 BDL like mine with a 20 power target scope on it in 22-250 caliber, and let the other guy pay the new price*.. I buy all my Firearms used all 22 of them Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, Revolvers*... No regrets here*...The Remington I have has a Bull Barrel on it*... Great Rifle, super accurate, And it didn't cost me a small fortune*...I have shot hundreds of groundhogs with it, and I always hit them in the head*.. My longest shot yet has been 400+ yards*....

I can think of a lot cheaper guns. I think my scope is the most important part of my varmint gun. If you can't see the tack clearly, you won't drive it.
