I love the show personally. It is full of quirky characters the storyline is great and I have no idea where it's going.
So far I have to give it an A for being unique and compelling.
I also like the setting among the surfing community that was a nice touch not part of the original story. HBO thought of it and the Director agreed and incorporated it into the storyline.
I can't wait to see who exactly John is and where he comes from.

I'm trying to get into it but it's been pretty difficult. So many characters and all of them pretty weird and hard to relate to. I'm still giving it a chance, but I'm beginning to lose faith in it. I guess it seems like it's odd for odd sake, which is not very interesting to me. HBO is always very tight-lipped about their ratings, so it's hard to know how well it is or isn't doing for them.

cancelled my HBO when the Sopranos was over. Cannot comment on this show.
