as an ex-soldier of HM Armed Forces can I point out that we are made up of All United Kingdom countries, its Commonwealth and Protectorates! Ulster? You mean Northern Ireland, also enough people from the Irish Republic join the British Forces too!

I do not think that we, and I presume that you refer to the UK, would not be speaking German as even without the belated help of the Yanks the Germans would never have invaded. the war in the East with Russia would have taken all their efforts. It is a fact that the Normandy invasion, with its inevitable heavy losses were to placate Stalin. If the second front had never been the status would have eventually been what we now have, a Europe dictated to from Berlin not Brussels and the only advantage would have been that we could have negotiated a peace that gave us the perpetual right to self determination. However the war ended and the continental dictators have won. Next move by the Brussels junta is to remove the rights of the individual parliaments. Big Brother is watching so I am probably on their hit list along with the rest of UKIP and other democracy parties.

What sort of question is this for goodness sake?
If you have a beef with the id you mentioned, go back to where his comments rattled your cage, and just add your comments there - even if a resolved question. Just look under the question - Add/Hide Comments.
We have as good a chance today as we had on day 1... helped by our Nato allies. - simple as !
We have a MUCH better chance providing we have the neccessary resources and equipment needed to get the job done.
Unfortunately, this now depends on whether Gordon Brown will honour his predecessors PROMISE, made to UK troops and UK public on 7th October 2006 -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5414974.stm .
Tony Bliar(sic) said, (WHEN he was PM..) and I quote him "However, the Prime Minister said: “If the commanders on the ground want more equipment — armoured vehicles for example, more helicopters — that will be provided. Whatever package they want, we will do.” UNQUOTE
That's all we NEED to get the job done. Simple as.
So, it's all down to Gordon now....
He who dares...............

I have no idea what this question is about, but reading some of the answers makes me sad.
For the first time in over thirty years there is peace in Northern Ireland and men women and children can go shopping on a saturday without the fear of being blown into bloody lumps of charred flesh.
And then we have idiots here who say things like "up the rebels" and seek to keep the hatred going.
How many people have to die in the most horrific way in order to keep you saddos singing the old rebel songs?
Get a life.

Youse all leave wee Irene m alone.. she is entitled to her opinion. Shouting at her , and calling her a wee dirty name. Her wee ULSTER did a lot to stop that fellow Hitler from sittin in the Queens Home. Only for that fellow down in the FREE STATE, DE valera saying. No IRISHMAN will ever be Conscripted in the BRITISH ARMY, Irene m, herself would have joined up, and hung Hitler herself. Leave her Alone.....

the chances they have maybe one of the following reasons can explain-
chances of being killed brutally
chances of going home maimed, decapitated, inutile.
chances of ending up in a psychiatric institution.
chances of becoming criminals involve in rape, murder, thievery.
chances of being kept in a long belief that what they are doing is for the good of the country where they have been assigned to patrol (iraq).
well, they also have the chance to be given a medal of honor, that small piece of metal, glamorized by culture, to serve as a lucrative explanation for going out and join wars.
chances are they will be remembered to have fought bravely and courageously, their names listed in books, cements, pavements, parks...
chances are only the commoners will go to real war! why not bring the queens grandsons in the frontline of iraq war? for me, that is nobler!!!

When are the Politicians, going to send their Sons and Daughters out to Iraq, Afghanistan. Maybe then, they'd know what it feels like, when their Son Or Daughter is killed.
