"Islamic fundamentalists" is not the right term. "Fundamentalism" was first used for a Christian movement. Maybe you meant "misled Islamic extremists". To tell you the truth two steps are required, one by you guys (i.e. the West) and one by us (i.e. the Muslims).
The West (particularly US and UK) should stop meddling with internal politics of muslim countries. They should leave them alone and not try to exploit their natural resources like oil for example. Enough harm has been done already by colonialism leaving many of the Muslim countries poor, with no appreciable leadership abilities left in them. If the West is really sincere in resolving this ever growing tension in the world, they should stop further harm. The people of the West, in general, should adopt an open approach towards ideas and faiths different than their own and should influence their governments into making policies which involve minimum meddling in other countries' affairs.
The Muslims should put their bit in. Theirs is a case of misled enthusiasm. The people who are doing the terrorist acts in the name of religion are venting their anger out on the wrong people. They should first concentrate internally and replace their leaders as the goverments are mainly dummy ones in most countries, mere lackies of intriguing Western countries. But all this through peaceful process and political awakening. Also a need to revive and understand Islam in its entirety is much needed in Islamic countries where the means of making your point would then not mean blowing up people who have nothing to do with the whole story. I personally think that if like minded educated Muslims start getting together and understanding their religion then slowly they can develop into a force which can look beyond minor differences of religious practices and work towards a common goal of ridding the Muslim world of prying Western powers by choosing real leaders and not dummies. You see, we do not have a problem with West, the problem starts when they want to exploit us.

There is no simple solution. Sectarian violence has domnated the middle east for thousands of years. There is no one cause and no simple solution. To think that America and Israel are the cause of all problems is incredibly naive. How then do you account for the fights they have among themselves and the divisions which arose from within their own faith.

My guess is they will destroy themselves in the end, since they already argue their ideals. they say they do not believe in violence or suicide, tell that to the Dr's who took an oath to save lives, look at the civil war taking place in Palestine, they have been fighting among themselves for three thousand years

We need to understand that there is nothing we can do to make them like us. There is nothing we can do to satisfy someone who has developed a blood lust for destruction. Diplomacy appears to them as weakness. They have reached the point of no return. The only thing...the only thing...that will stop them is for their fellow Muslims to rise up and strike them down. All that is needed for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing. So where are the good Muslims?
I'm waiting to see massive demonstrations in the streets calling for the end of jihad.
Smokey, you're living in a fools paradise. They hate because they hate. There is NOTHING we can do to satisfy them. You, and all the other women dressed head to toe in burkas might be a start. Is that want you want?
Stealing their oil????? I've heard it all, now.
Osama bin Laden doesn't give a flying flip about the Palestinians. They are only a means to his end.

I guess make everyone a Muslim. I have other comments to the contrary, but I have learned about speaking my mind on
Y!A. It's safer to just be another brick in the wall on this site when it comes to comments on Islam. All other religions and ideaologies are fair game.
But, you do the math.

Firstly , learn how to spell correctly, it is "prompt".
Tell America to stop supporting Israel in it's racist land stealing from Muslims.
Then get British politicians to stop licking American backside when it comes to foreign policy.
Just because America wants to plunder the Middle East for profits to feed their industrial military complex does not mean Britain has to supply the soldiers to fight for their greed.
Britain never had a problem with Middle Eastern terrorism until Blair the fool dragged Britain in just because he did not want Bush to think he was a coward.
Establish the facts and learn how to spell before you ask these questions on Yahoo.

Get off our dependence on their oil so their armed campaign will no longer be funded. Believe me, this is key - no money, no weapons.
See to it that the Palestinians have a state of their own.
