“All winged insects that go on all fours are detestable to you." Leviticus 11:20
What it seems to say to me is nail those annoying pests!

It is not a sin to kill a person but it is totally wrong and totally against the law to kill a person. If the insects bother you get rid of them. If not, leave them alone.

It'd be silly if it was. Your body kills millions of bacteria a day, and you don't even have to move. Your digestive system, immune system, they all kill millions a day. Let alone how many you squash when you walk. This is why I'm begining to think "sin" is an illusion :P or atleast now how it is commonly thought as today. The only thing i judge to be wrong, is a sole intent to harm.

No. Bugs or even animals are not the same as human beings. It is not a sin to kill bugs. The bible says that mankind was created in God's image. Bugs ... not so much.

There are always ways to justify any killing of any person or thing. The sin is not the killing. The sin is the lack of love we for other people which leads to killing. Jesus commands us to love God with all of our heart and second, to love our neighbor as ourselves. The way we show we love God is to love one another. If you kill someone will malice aforethought, then it is obvious you don't love God because you can't love a God you can't see and hate a man you can see. That's the sin....not loving God.

Good question. If Christians believe it is a sin to kill insects, their God is going to have to hire and army just to keep tally.

If you believe in your heart that it's a sin to kill a cockroach then for you it is a sin. Whatever is not of faith is sin.

Dominion over the earth and it's inhabitants was given to man. When God told Adam to name everything he saw, it is noted that "that's what it was called." While man should not abuse his position as the dominant life form, he is free to do with it whatever he sees fit. However, God named man, and thus God retains dominion over man, so while we're free to do what we want with what we were given, we'll also have to give an account of how wisely (or unwisely) we have utilized what we were given.

i don't think killing bugs is considered a sin by christians. this is a buddist belief, based on their belief in reincarnation. if you have many lifetimes, one or more of them might be as a bug or animal or whatever. i've been to seminars and spoke to people about this. it may be in a book somewhere (isn't everything????) but i don't know which one.

Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
From that verse, we have dominion over every living thing.
