My partner and I are going to Tasmania for 3 or 4 days. I'm 20 (he's a bit older) and we need things to do.

We are not interested in sight seeing.

Where can we play pool near Salamanca Place? (We'll have a car so we can travel).

I was going to organise a trip to the snow for some snowboarding although there is no SNOW! :(

Any wine tasting or anything like that? Can we do paint balling? Is there any theatres we could go see? Ballet? (Hehe! He'd love the ballet).

Please help me with entertainment in Tasmania!

- My father owns a restaurant at Salamanca Pl so we'll definatley check out the Markets on Saturday.

We are arriving Thursday 12 July 2007.

- also, we're from Melbourne.

Salamanca Place is down by the waterfront & only a few blocks to the town centre.
You can play pool in any number of pubs within a very short walk from Salamanca Place.
There may be snow on top of Mt. Wellington if it's a rainy day down below!!
you can taste wine at the sunday market - as with anywhere else in australia - wine tasting is over rated & more expensive to buy then at the local shop - do your wine tasting at a pub.
there's a great "roman baths" in the town centre so take your skivvies.
you can go jet boating, movies, play putt putt golf, half day quad bike tour or just walk around.

Hi Mike I think the Sunshine Coast has more going for school children as you have got....... 1.) The Beaches 2.) Aussie World Fun Park 3.) Under Water World 4.) The Big Pineapple 5.) Ginger Factory 6.) Your not far from Australia Zoo, Home of Steve Irwin. 7.) Markets are on all over the Sunshine Coast but Eumundi Markets are suppose to be the best. 8.) Plus you have the Towns to visit up on the ranges, especially the montville shops which your wife will love. 9.) Glass House Mountains and do some bush walking. 10.) Wappa Dam picnic area for more walking and a picnic. 11.) Hire a boat for the day at Maroochydore. Well if this isn't going to convince you with this great list, then I feel your going to be one hard case to please. Cheers.

What is the point of going to Tasmania if you aren't going sightseeing? You might as well stay in Melbourne. There are wineries in Tasmania but you will need to travel to get there and might have to do some sightseeing on the way.

Hobart is a civilised city with drama, music and dance as well as art galleries and a lot of history. It is also beautiful and friendly. You must take a trip to the top of Mt Wellington and I would recommend the Antarctic museum at the Antarctic Division in Kingston about 20km south.

There are some great birds in Tasmania. Of course they are the many of the same that are around Melbourne; but if you have not been birding, now is your chance. All you will need is a decent pair of 8x40 binoculars and a birding bird for Australian birds. Laughing Kookaburra, Azure Kingfisher, yellow rumped thornbill, yellow throated honeyeater, strong billed honeyeater (last two found only in Tasmania), flame robin, pink robin, scarlet robin (all three robins beautiful), southern emu-wren. Many more besided.
