Try local museums to see if they have programs needing you to watch young children. If not, then try churches. They'll definitely need them.
Local soup kitchens also may work.
There's even an opportunity to make sack lunches for kids going to summer camp in Mesa, AZ. Here http://www.volunteermatch.org/results/opp_detail.jsp?oppid=263298.
They need volunteers from August 1st to August 24th.
Anyway, the point is that it's all out there.
Best would be to look something up on Volunteermatch.org
It also has dates for when they need volunteers to see if it works for you.

I find it hard to believe that no one needs volunteers on a Sunday.
I work at a non profit museum in Va, and we always need volunteers, every day of the week.
If you want to volunteer so badly, check around with your local museums, zoos and aquariums. Or try your local hospital, animal shelter, or church. You can also check your local newspaper in the help wanted section for volunteer work.

I see a few items on the calendar of your local volunteer center, Make A Difference:
http://www.makeadifference.org
Your volunteer center can help you find specific community projects and non-profit agencies in your local area to help you make an impact in your community.

http://national.unitedway.org
In addition, if you have some interest in a specific cause, you might want to consider working in conjunction with your local volunteer center to create some projects on Sundays. For example, a few of our volunteers at our local center have a knitting club that knits items for local senior centers. They meet on Sundays at a local coffee shop.
Good luck!
