My cats are very frightened and hiding because of all the racket from fireworks :(

And to make this a religious question: Do you think God will smite the people who are using fireworks and scaring all the poor little kitties and puppies?

My aunt's dog is terrified. I am six hours away and know this for a fact. It's my uncle's birthday, so there are many people and noises at her home. It's too early for the fireworks that take place RIGHT NEXT DOOR, but those will make her really nervous. That poor dog hates noise. My grandma, who just spent her birthday in Heaven for the first time and is no doubt celebrating each day now, was always suspicious that fireworks in the sky would cause rain. I miss her odd sayings and actions.

My younger dog has been going nuts for days - any little popper or bottle rocket going off has been driving her nuts. To top it off, there were fireworks friday at the ballgame (which we could hear from here), fireworks saturday at the art show (same deal- same basic area, actually) and fireworks on the local college campus on monday.

Evey time someothing goes pop outside, she's barking her head off. Spouse took her into the basement with them while they play video games, in hopes of keeping her calm - since the fireworks are about an hour away here.

Problems of living in a small city.

As for god smiting them? Naw - people do worse things without any smiting happening.

fireworks started here 3 days ago, but it was just one now and then, we live across the street from the harbor where there will be a fireworks display later tonight, but the harbor parking lot is an open fireworks area, where everyone in town comes to set off their own fireworks. and they started a couple of hours ago.
so my wife is getting out the chamomile tea to give the dogs so it will calm them down.
they have gotten a little used to the noise in the last few days, but better safe than sorry.
here it is a pretty open fireworks town, and they can even set off those mortars that shoot into the air.

Fireworks don't start here for another couple hours..

When they start my horses(J.J., Stupid "don't judge you haven't seen him walk into the side of the barn while looking at butterflies", and M&M) will spook I have already put them in their stalls in the barn so they will be less likely to hurt themselves or each other running in the corral....

My dog (Stub) will howl (but he howls at the breeze he is a bit nutty) I put him in the barn.

My chickens (No names you don't name potential food) will likely lay about 1/2 the normal eggs tomorrow and any in the hen house when the fireworks start will be smashed.. (I will collect what I can before we leave for the show)

My housecats (Pete and Repete) will go in the basement before we leave so they can shread the towels I have selected for this purpose instead of my curtains (like last year)..

The fish (Henry, Lola, Charlie and Cerebro) the guinea pigs (Bob and Trouble"originally George til she got pregnant and became Trouble") don't seem effected.. Bob the lazy guinea pig might rouse himself enough to yawn but I wouldn't count on it..

There is no god

The animals get over it pretty quickly.. If the animals can survive and thrive being over loved by my 10 yr old daughter a few booms 1 night a year is nothing.. Be more worried about the next outfit poor Pete will be required to wear .. Pete always looks so forlorn dressed in doll clothes LOL

My cat is being extra clingy tonight-he wants lots of attention and is very frightened.

At this moment I wouldn't mind my neighbors being smited-to make all this racket is inconsiderate, not to mention illegal and dangerous. Tomorrow morning we'll probably hear on our local news about some idiots who hurt or maimed themselves with fireworks and we'll be expected to feel 'sympathy'.

earlier my step-daughter got here to stay with us we had to handle her concern of canines. She grow to be just about phobic approximately canines so I "cured" her this way. while she grow to be there, she depended on me when I instructed her i could shop the dogs on the leash and faraway from her. Our dogs grow to be a enormously calm dogs and that helped plenty. Then I placed the dogs in the subsequent room with a toddler gate in the door. She could attain throughout and puppy the dogs as she felt gentle. After some weeks (i do no longer remember how long...perhaps 4 weeks), she felt gentle with the dogs and that they've been popular acquaintances. She nonetheless is petrified of odd canines, somewhat in the event that they're hyper. yet this is okay because of the fact no you could still attitude a wierd dogs besides. (Get to understand them with the owner's permission)

No fireworks here yet. My silly kitty is so oblivious I don't think it will bother her at all. Her entire life consists of going upstairs and sleeping on the bed, coming downstairs and sleeping on the coach, get something to eat, go back upstairs etc.

All the cats here are in hiding, except the little Persian kitten, Austin. He sat right by the screen door and watched the fireworks with us. I can't figure out if he's brave or too dumb to be scared (Persians are dumb and happy... that's their appeal).
Anyway, I hope everyone had a nice 4th.

It's been raining here all day/night, so most of the fireworks were cancelled, but one of my dogs is absolutely terrified of fireworks, so whenever they reschedule them, I'll be sure to hear about it.
