anesthesia will not harm your baby but they will have to hook you up to a fetal monitor to make sure the baby has no adverse reactions to the anesthesia. However depending on how far along you are they may or may not continue with your surgery. Being pregnant also changes what pain medication you can take so keep that in mind. It also won't kill sperm cells why would you even think that?

No. There was once a study that showed that females who worked around general anesthesia may have had morre miscarriages but the study has been called into question. There was also a suggestion that benzodiazepines such as Valium, Librium or Versed caused birth defects if given very early in pregnancy, but this too has been shown to be incorrrect. Nitrous oxide affects cellular metabolism in a way to interfere with DNA production and this effect would of course have strong theoretical implications for early fetal development.
Local anesthesia used by the dentist will not kill a fetus or sperm cells.

What kind of anesthesia are you referring to?
Local anesthesia is safe, and will not interfere with any reproductive function.
General anesthesia isn't going to affect sperm production, and, even if it did, men make so many sperm, you'd be back in business in no time.
Anesthesia during pregnancy is another issue entirely. We try to avoid general anesthesia during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, when a lot of fetal development is taking place. There aren't any good studies that show that anesthesia harms babies or causes miscarriage, but we like to play it safe.
What COULD hurt pregnant moms and babies is not getting enough oxygen while sedated or anesthetized. Proper monitoring by a trained anesthesia professional is critical.
Hope that helps.

Sperm cells: NO
If you are preg. or think you might be, you need to share that info. with your dentist. Most types of pain relievers are not to be used during pregnancy. If you need pain relief, you need to talk about that with the dentist so that only a safe method is used...or the procedure should be done after the baby is born.

What? Are you a girl or a guy? If you're a girl are you pregnant? Then you need to talk to your dentist BEFORE you have any dental work done. If you are a guy, no....anesthesia is not going to kill your sperm.
If you have questions about your dental procedure and what effects it will have on your body, then you need to talk to your dentist.
