There is nobody like Davey and Alan in NASCAR at this time. I don't think there ever will be. The talent and inteligence that they brought to NASCAR is not easy to duplicate. Besides driving the cars they had the talent to work on them also. They were two very special racers that were taken from us way to soon.

There is noone that could accomplish what Alan Kulwicki did out there now, but Nascar is very different now. Davey Allison was a championship caliber driver. Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt would not have as many Cup Championships if he were still around. It's hard to compare drivers now to drivers back then. A year ago Kahne was a top driver, now, he's nowhere. That doesn't make him any worse or better of a driver.

I remember Davey and Allan. I miss the old days of Nascar. I don't think todays drivers match up at all. Sometimes I think someone like Matt Kenseth or Carl Edwards show potential as drivers...I am afraid the days of guys like Allison, Kulwicki, Earnhardt (Sr) and David Pearson are over.

I remember Davey Allison . What a talented driver he was. When Bobby Allison formed Bobby Allison Motorsports I wish Davey was still alive so he could have driven the old #12 Mane n Tail car and not Derrick Cope.

Yes...numbers 28 and 7...shame they bought it. Davey was a good clean driver that could really work out problems as the race went on and listened to his owner and crew chief. Allan didn't have an owners problem and loved the reverse tracking after a win. Jeff Gordon is my choice for being at their level...he can win with junk and at most tracks does well...he has successfully lingered at or around the top of the pack for several years now. Of course he has paid the price for it in fan hostility as he breaks old favorite drivers records.

Having lived in Birmingham and watching Davey race late models and following him into cup and watching Kulwicki race it is not real easy to give this destinction to any one driver but the ones that come to mind are;
Denny Hamlin
Carl Edwards
Ryan Newman.

I used to watch them. I used to be a Davey Allison fan until he got killed. Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards remind me a lot of Davey's style. I think Ryan Newman is a little similar to the way Kulwicki was.

They were both killed the same year within months of each other.
I had just moved to Alaska and the only news I got was word of mouth, the news printed 8 line advisories. ESPN and SPEED weren't around then, cable and satellite weren't an option.
We read about it and told each other "sorry to hear that " and it was over.
Yeah, so much for the good 'ol days.
They both could have had a huge impact on the sport.

There's alot of talented drivers in the sport today just like there was then. But trying to find another (or compare someone to) Allison or Kulwicki is doing a dis-service to both of them and also to any driver their compared to. It's the same thing with trying to fing another B.P. or Richard Petty.
