. . . regarding things like protein shakes?
Can you give me some insight on this matter?

Hmmm . . . well, I don't quite know what you mean by "all that" protein or where you heard it. Here is what my handy sports nutrition reference says:

Nonathletes do well with approximately 0.8 g of protein per kg of body weight per day. For a 165 lb individual that would be about 60 g per day.
Athletes require 1.2 to 1.7 g of protein per kg of body weight per day.
[In a table]
Endurance athletes should consume about 3800 calories per day, 1.2-1.4 g/kg/day protein, 84-98 g of protein per day.
Strength athletes should consume about 3200 calories per day, 1.6-1.7 g/kg/day protein, 112-119 g of protein per day.

Elsewhere, it says that protein can be converted to glucose for energy. But the reaction yields nitrogen that must be excreted in urine. So, even though protein is a rather inefficient fuel, excess protein does not go to waste. The book mentions that it is a complete waste of resources to burn protein as a fuel. (I just realized how that sounds . . . let me clear that up right now. Excess protein can be used as energy, but it is best used for other things so using it for energy is a waste. Relatively speaking, that is. Whew!)

I eat protein powder regularly. It is very convenient for me because I don't have a great deal of time to cook and I don't care much for tuna. Good night!

No, I have been lifting weights for at least 5 years and I try to get all the protein I can. You know Sylvester Stallone (Rocky/ Rambo)? He has a website to help people who want to get into shape. You can also call, tomorrow, 1-866-sly-says. They told me that to grow new muscle, I need at least 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per a pound that I weigh. Protein with carbs works very well. The protein will allow the muscle to grow, while the carbs feed the muscle. Do NOT take steroids. If you are a guy, they make your testicles shrink and they destroy your heart. Sylvester Stallone has some really good products out there, I am not being paid to advertise his site, his stuff helps a lot. His site is www.instonenutrition.com. Hope my info was helpful.

Protein can help you lose weight and gain weight.

Protein fills you up. Now if you eat something with a lot of protein in it, you will not eat more food. This helps you lose weight.

Now if you eat your normal meal and then eat something with a lot of protein in it after your meal, then you can gain weight.

Here is all the information about a product I beleive in.

I hope you will take the time to read up on this.

Protein is needed for muscle creation and development. But your body will only use so much of anything before it passes it along straight to the urine. SO unless you want expensive piss you need to find out how much is necessary for your needs

I haven't heard that, but I think the best protein is in chicken, fish, etc.
