Since joining my new company last year I have had a cold almost non-stop.

The most I can go without having a cold seems to be about 2 days. Then i get another 5 day cold. Sometimes it may be hay fever but generally its a cold.

Its a big open plan office with about 50 people and aircon.

Should I be concerned?

sounds like an allergy to something in the workplace. keep a journal and note if you feel differently on your days off, especially a long weekend or weeklong vacation. If you find that it points to workplace only, discuss with your employer and/or doctor to find a possible solution. It may also just be lack of humidity in the office.

Several people in my office experienced similar feelings, and the company spent $30K on testing, duct cleaning, and air analysis. All they found was that it was much dryer than comfort level. They made some changes to the filtration system and everyone is happier.

Good luck!

this is not normal.

Do you live in a new area, as well?

I would have some things checked with your doctor.

They may want to check the air ducts, mold, etc. etc. in the office building. And you need you check it in your home, too.

If everything checks out completely, see if you have any odd allergies or asthma.

If everything fails or the company doesn't comply I would take a week or two off of work just to see if your symptoms lessen.

The other thing to be sure is that you are healthy from a mind and body perspective too. Even if others are sick around you, it is a lowered body defense system that allows you to get sick. Make sure you take good self care measures to keep healthy and happy.

And, don't share cups at work (at my old work they just washed by hand which wasn't adequate) and never borrow a pen. Wash your hands a lot and all the rest.

Good luck!

You are reacting to a "allergic"condition not from a "cold"virus. I would see your MD,for some testing and prescribing something to alleviate those symptoms etc. Lots of things can cause these allergies, from fabric dyes to interior finishes like paints and varnishes. Take care. SW RNP

It's not a cold. Something is wrong and it may be related to toxins in the work place or at home. I suggest you seriously think about taking some vacation time and cleansing your system. If that works, you need to find another place to work.

I think it's more likely that there's an allergen in the air-conditioning system rather than a cold. You might suggest to your boss that an analysis be made of the material in the ducts of the air-conditioning system.

No not normal. You should be taking multi vitamins or something. Sounds like your immune system is really weak.
