John 5

21For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

I think you mistakenly believe everybody cares about your specific holy text.

Did you mean to only ask christians?
Did you know that your jesus is just a rehash of earlier, cooler gods?

Simple statement of belief or faith....You must believe in Both the Father and the Son. The Father draws you to the Son and through the Son you are allowed to go to the Father

It kind of sounds like its setting a man up to take the place of God. Typical of mans arrogance if you ask me. Of course also typical of something Satan would do if indeed he exists. What a laugh he would get when every time a Christian ended a prayer they were basically saying "In Satans Name, Amen". That would really annoy the man upstairs eh...

As for the answer here giving URL's claiming Christ's story was nicked from "earlier, cooler, Gods". Here's a list from the other team with evidence just as detailed, if not more so...

We all have the same information, it's how you choose to interpret it that governs your point of view.....

P.S. I am, of course, open to the idea that Jesus may well have been who he said he was. I'm guessing that one day all will know for sure.

The Son is given the right to judge because he is the Son of Man. We have our life, our freedom, and our peace with God the Father through his son.

I get my answer from the preceding verses and the ones that follow. The Jews wanted to kill Jesus for healing on the Sabbaths. What Jesus was tell them was that he was from the Father that sent him to bring the Gospel. The gospel being the good news that God was going to save all that believed in his name. His name being Yeshua Messiah aka Jesus Christ meaning the anointed Savior. John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

I believe the Lord is saying here that He is Equal to the Father in Giving Life and in Executing Judgement.
