Staring in general is offensive. Now, if my gal were to stare at my abs (considering I am a little overweight at the moment) it may still bother me, but not as much as if a total stranger did it. The same applies when a man stares at a woman's chest. It is highly offensive. We all have eyes for a reason, we ought to spend more time looking at others in the eye while speaking rather than focusing on "other" areas of the body.

This may be offensive to women, but if I had a body part that women liked and I wore something that enhanced or revealed that body part and they stare in turn, there is no way I would get offended by that. Fact is I'm the one that chose to wear that outfit and I am fully aware that it enhances my body. Women do it all the time and it just boggles the mind as to WHY they don't understand that simple concept. For them it becomes "only certain people can look". Well, life ain't the internet and we don't need to sign-up and give our credit card information just to look at you.
If you wear something revealing, people stare. Men stare. Women stare. Old people stare. Children stare. People may find it rude, but if you understand that very simple concept perhaps people would dress more conservatively and wouldn't be so offended by getting looked at.
And to answer the question, I would love it. That means my hard work going to the gym has finally paid off. I had a gf that use to compliment my body and it felt good.

Sadly enough - this is one of the many cases where the Double Standard comes into play.
Most guys actually WANT you to check them out (why else would he be showing off his abs?), while girls only want CERTAIN guys (or none at at all) to do so in return...
As for me personally, I can accept an honest compliment from just about anyone - but just staring (and/or drooling) is extremely rude!
Luckilly, my abs (currently) are more likely to remain hidden at ALL times - don't want to scare the kids, after all ;);)

If a man has tattoos all over his abs and is not worked up with muscle, pukey!
A nice tanned ab won't hurt.

think most guys will agree with me here when i say that we would feel great to have a woman stare at us. we would take it as a compliment and worth looking at.
