I agree Antigua is beautiful and has many schools of Spanish language, also there are many local teachers offering accomodations in their home--total immersion plus language lessons--this is the best because you have no one to speak English with.
You can arrange everything locally, in Antigua, just book the flight to Guatemala City an take a bus or taxi to Antigua where you can find a cheep hostal and start looking for a school.

I don't know a URL, but I went to Antigua a few years ago and they had really cool language schools that you can just walk in and sign up. Some of them are in great old colonial buildings, have cafe-bars connected, and teach salsa classes.
So you could just go there, find a room for abour $12 a night and do it.
I DON'T recommend Guatemala City. The air is full of black smoke that burns your eyes, while Antigua is fantastic and only 40 minutes ride from the Guate airport.
Just search "study Spanish in Antigua"
