Newer memory cards (4GB+) won't work in older cameras as they use the new "SDHC" format.

These cards look like the old ones (and fit in the same slot), but will only work in the newest cameras.

All you can do is return it, and get yourself two 2GB cards instead. Down the road, you can replace your camera with one that is SDHC compatible ;)

If your camera is an older camera, then there is a high chance it will not be able to recognise the higher capacity SD card (SDHC).
Also, you say you get a 'card locked' message. Just make sure the card is not locked. Check the little switch on the outside of the card to make sure it is not in the 'Lock" position. Flip it the other way, if it is.

If you could add extra details about your camera (brand and model) then one of us would be able to tell you what the limit of card your camera will accept...

There are a lot of cameras that will not work with bigger memory cards. Usually the limit it 1 or 2 gig. Try getting a 2 gig and see if that works.

Did you circulate away the Caps Lock key on? making use of all caps may well be perceived as shouting. you need to use the two separately on the digicam. If the digicam has 2 comparable SDHC memory card slots, you need to use the two on the same time. study the digicam's instruction manual.
