really how can you say he doesn't exist? No REALLY HOW CAN YOU SAY HE DOESN'T EXSIST? No really I mean it, seriously.
There is plenty of proof that "WE DON'T KNOW IF GOD EXIST OR NOT" But nothing that says it is impossible for him to exist.
I repeat there is nothing that we know today that says that the exsistance of God is an impossability. One more time. NO EVIDENCE POINT TOWARD GOD AS AN IMPOSSABILITY.
As an atheist I am wondering why so many make the assumption that God doesn't exist for certain, for me it's an assumption, but other act as if they have irrefutable proof and I would like to see this irrefutable proof.

A lot of atheists call me agnositic in some ways because my concept of "god" is a fence-sitting concept. I can neither prove nor disprove god's existence. I don't know, for certain that god does or does not exst. That's agnosticism.
In my view, though, I don't believe god (should there be something we would conceptualize as god) exists in any way that has anything to do with how the universe gets along with itself. To use a metaphor, if the universe were a self-contained aquarium full of stuff and living things, god would be on the outside looking in and never interfering.
Why? If god interfered with the universe in some way, there would be evidence of it. Since there is no evidence of it, then any god that existed is not a part of this universe. Sure, god could "hide" the existence, but doing so indicates that god would not want to be part of this universe. I'm getting there, hang with me.
So, when I say I'm atheist, I do so because I do not find any logical reason to believe in any god that mankind has ever reported. I do not believe there is any evidence of a supreme being involved in the universe. If there is a god, this god has nothing to do with humanity and therefore, does not exist for us. Though it's not fully accurate, to my mind, agnosticism leaves the door open for man's ideation of god. I believe that the lack of evidence in the face of the claims of these ideations is enough "proof" that gods created by humans do not exist. For example: Noah's Ark. If god exists extra-universally, it doesn't matter. God has no bearing here and may as well not exist in human concerns. This is why I claim atheism and "there is no god" instead of agnosticism and "there could be a god." In the immortal words of Spock, a difference that makes no difference is not a difference.

You don’t seem to have much understanding of either science or religion (it is highly unusual for an Atheist to be so poorly informed).
No Atheist claims to have irrefutable proof that God does not exist. There is no such proof in science or any epistemology that ties knowledge to the objective empirical world. It is Theists who falsely claim to have such proof of God’s existence.
That Atheists do not believe in God(s) is not an ‘assumption’. It is a conclusion based on the complete and total absence of any evidence suggesting the existence of a God.

I find the question preposterous. I've been asked this question many times, yet no one has ever asked me how I can truly say that I know that little invisible fairies aren't responsible for keeping all matter from flying off the face of the earth instead of gravity. It's a matter of being a ridiculous notion that is so far off the charts when it comes to remote possibilities that the existence of god is not worth my time to even consider being possible.

do you really mean it, seriously?
ok, turn it around. we have a fairly good understanding of how the world works. not perfect, obviously. does any part of that understanding suggest how such a thing as a god might exist? well, not to me. how many of the empirical claims of traditional religions hold up? what is god supposed to be good for, anyway?ultimately though, i agree with you in principle. just because i can find no use for the concept of god doesn't mean it's absolutely useless or that the thing to which the concept refers doesn't exist. i could be wrong.
perhaps part of the problem is that these issues usually come up in discussion with people who are certain that god DOES exist, and it's tempting to become as dogmatic as they are in order to earn points or 'win' an argument?

How do you manage to prove the negative hypothesis "God does not exist"? In order to do that you would need to have knowledge of everything that ever existed, exists now, or will ever exist. In order to do that you would have to be Immortal, Omniscient and Omnipresent. How could you do that in a physical body on one small planet in a backwater corner of the multiverse? You would have to be an eternal disembodied entity and as such you would be GOD and disprove your statement.

You can't for sure. Even Richard Dawkins says, on a scale from 1 to 7 with 1 being sure God does exist and 7 being sure he doesn't, that he rates himself a 6.

I don't think anyone, anyone, says that God doesn't exist for sure. As of right now, there is nothing to point to his existence. Yes, there is nothing to point toward his nonexistence, but you can't have proof for a negative, now can you? You can't prove that the invisible pink unicorn or FSM doesn't exist. Burden of proof is on those who support the idea, not those who don't believe in it.

The belief in God is an affirmation of hierarchy and inequality. I don't believe in hierarchy or inequality because to me, this is the root of all suffering our world. It is the cause of oppression and domination over others; hunger, war, hatred, slavery, poverty, wealth (YUCK) As long as humans are so stuck on hierarchal belief systems, they will place some god up on the top of the hierarchy. It's nonsense.
There is no spark of life that is more important or more special than any other.
