I notice many Y/A where a person claims to be a Christian and in most cases they give very sound and accurate truth from the Bible however their avatar or name contradicts this title they bear of a Christian.
For instance they have pictures of seductive women, multicolored hair and facial piercing, a mean/angry expression, names that totally contradict their faith, just to name a few.
Doesn't it appear like a contradiction to you? It's like saying: I am a pure prostitute, or an honest thief. It just doesn't make sense.
I would imagine if you had an encounter with Jesus Christ you must have had some sort of change in your life, but words without action is dead

If a new Christian doesn't automatically have a change in their lifestyle, does that mean that Jesus Christ didn't automatically deal with their sins? Does that mean they still forfeit the chance to go to hell?
If you can't be hit by a truck and be unchanged, how can you come in contact with God who is greater than anything and remain unchanged?
The only explaination is you are crazy or a liar

Sorry I should have said forfeit their chance to go to Heaven. Partly because it was a transition and they might have died before they were saved completely. This is obviously as wrong as believing someone has encourtered God, accepted God as Lord and has not changed

Are you suggesting that peoples appearance's are more important than the content of their character? Imagining a Christ who gives or withholds love based on a dress code is what does not make sense to me. Open up buddy, its a big ol goofy world.

I think there are many things (piercings, etc) that are a personal preference and have no bearing on your salvation. I think that what matters is your attitude, and your heart. I think that a Christian will respect their body as a creation and temple of God, and will not abuse it. But I think that we have different ideas of what abusing your body might be. For instance, I personally think that getting your ears pierced is totally fine (although mine aren't). But if you get your tongue cut into a fork, that's abusing your body in my view. Other people may disagree; I simply have to live for Jesus, myself, in the best way I know how.
I also think that a Christian will try to show themselves to the world in the best possible way, but a new Christian may not yet know what that is. They may not know that things are wrong, but if they are a Christian, then once they are enlightened they will change their ways. For example, like you mentioned - having a seductive picture as an avatar or something like that. A woman who is a new Christian may not realize that our bodies are for our husbands only and are not to be flaunted in view of the world. After all we must try to protect our brothers in Christ from the sin of lust. So while she may use such pictures at first, once she learns how she should act, she should change her picture.
This is kind of a rambling answer, but I hope I helped.

Mine does... and those who doesn't obviously haven't had that revealed to them as God's biggest thing to deal with right now, God takes us as we are, we are perfect from the moment we accept Jesus, but if we stay at that "perfect" always it becomes "imperfect" (sorry it will get more confusing) we need to keep growing in the Grace and knowledge of God by being obedient to Him....
Things like peircings aren't mentioned in the Bible often the only reference is about a slave who wishes to remain working for His master is to have his ear peirced... these are not the big things God deals with however with those of us who have been around a long time will get these things dealt with because He is causing us to more like him...
Christians need room to grow just like everybody else... no heaven is not forfeited because somebody messes up a few times... however habitual premeditated sin is a different story and I would feel as though the heaven destination becomes shaky....

OK, this is going to get hairy, but I am not one to shy away from debate..
By the way people dress or act, can nonbelievers tell we are Christian?
Just in the last thirty years, secular culture has slowly infiltrated Christian lifestyle, while most have found ways to either manipulate Scripture or justify our actions to do likewise.
I am not here to scrutinize or criticize someone's heart or their passion for Jesus, just making a point why people dress or adorn themselves the way they do today.
Until the 1960's, most women still wore dresses and were never "threatened" by feminists. When I went to high school in the early '80's, no male wore earrings (at least at my school). Today, earrings and jewelry are prevalent on all parts of the body. Even tattoos are coming back, even when God forbade them in the Old Testament. One Christian was asked by God this question:
Why do My people entertain themselves with the very things that nailed Me to the Cross?
If Christian did a study of the first century Christians, they will find they live in their own culture, so to speak. They were in the world, but not of it. Call me old fashioned, but when Christians slowly take on the persona of the secular world, when slowly integrate ourselves to their standards, not Christ. We are to be Christ like, and Jesus went to the sinners, but never did He conform to their culture. I could go into more detail, if the time presented itself better.

Are you serious? OMGD!
So your saying the following:
"multicolored hair and facial piercing, a mean/angry expression,"
Aren't Christian? LOL. I'm definately not a Christian myself, but I think you disrespect those who are and who color their hair, have peircing, or have a pic of them making an angry face! Please, don't disrespect your fellow Christians who are, just because they dont "look" the part YOU expect them to. Like I said, I'm not Christian, but that doesn;t mean I shouldn't stand up for those who are and dont meet the visual image. If you were a true Christian, wouldnt you see past the portrait in front of you and look into their heart? I would hope so.

Never judge a book by it's cover. If you met John the Baptist face to face, you probably wouldn't think of him as a man of God. Also, some people that are new to the faith will go through a transition in what they wear. It's not always automatic.

A persons appearance IS a direct expression of their charactor , Christian or not... and to "The Cricket" realizing that we are not perfect is only the first step toward being a whole Christian..it's not a reason for continuous sinning...all Christians know that...but it should be your incentive to strive to be a better person, not an excuse for not trying.

If you had an encounter with Jesus Christ, you are in league with our neighbor Mr. Gibby who hears from Jesus daily.
He also struts around in his back yard wearing a shirt and nothing else.
As for avatars and all that nonsense -- hold on just a second, anybody beside me like french beans?

I get what you're saying. But I like to think that my avatar DOES reflect Christ. And I don't think "The Cricket" is non-Christian.
All of us are at different points in our walk, though. I see nothing wrong with avatars that have multiple piercings, multi-colored hair, or tattoos. We're not perfect, remember?

Looking sexy, having multicoloured hair and facial piercings, a mean expression... what's that got to do with being religious or not?
If they choose names like 'Whore of Babylon' it's probably an admission nobody's perfect ('we're all sinners').
You should have more tolerance, especially for your own.
