girls: if you got a mohawk, do you have to shave off the sides?or can you leave it without it looking weird?

my hair is about 4 in past my shoulders and i was thinking about doing something cool with it like a mohawk or liberty spikes of something but idk...advice on anything helps :P

You don't have to shave the sides. I swear. You can have someone braid your hair into a mohawk, but it's very very painful and can cause traction alopecia (your hair falls out and your hairline extends). It looks weird and takes forever to grow back.

You sound timid to cut anything off, and if you are too scared, consider something else. My honest opinion is that your hair is too long for it and would have to be cut above your shoulders. You sound like you want a mohawk but are still a little unsure...If you decide you do want one, I would try a quick mohawk at home and decide if you like it. Then if you do, just cut your hair into a bob at home and go from there. Lots of girls hide behind long hair because they're emotionally attached to it, and cutting it is really liberating, sort of like a weight off the shoulders thing. If you decide yes, great for you...a mohawk can be *really* cool. =]]

No, get somebody to braid your sides up into a Mohawk. You do that not jus so you have to cut your hair but also so you can let your hair down into a different style. But of you want your hair and also want to not have to spend monry on a hair cut, get somebody willing enough to braid your hair up into a mohawk and you should be fine! Good luck :)

i think the best way of figuring that out is to try to go for the mohawk the way it looks currently because it sounds like you don't want to cut anything off... if it dosen't look the way you want it to, then it probably is best to cut off the sides or if your not willing, try for a different style.
