Don’t rely on your own understanding or that of anybody else.
Approach scripture prayerfully and ask God’s Holy Spirit for understanding.
People often get hung up on the details of the stories and completely miss what God is trying to show them.

I don't know if I "question" the stories in the Bible as much as I strive to interpret it correctly. The Bible is hardly a historical account. Sure there are history books, such as I and II Chronicles, but the Bible is also full of poetry, allegory, prophecy, metaphors, parables, etc. You can't read it all literally, you have to take into consideration its genre, intended audience, and application for today. This is called textual criticism, and I think that every Christian should try it out once in awhile.

You should know that these Bibles have been written thousands of years ago and it took 1500 years to write these 66 books..and 45 different authors..
what do you think? they have been written in Arabic, Greek, and Hebrew thousands of years ago..and translated..many times..so go figure..
all religion is taken by FAITH...everyone questions every thing they read or study..it is the question that keeps coming up here and every forum like this .on the inter net...
believe what you want..smarter people then you and I have studied the Bible and books like the bible since the beginning of time.. every culture had some form of religion.
Must be something in this God thing as 85 percent of the US people believe in God..of some kind..so go figure..God is not going away in the near future. Muslims are growing in number..all over the world..

I think that flags always go off in our minds about certain stories in the bible...but I think that it does that because things like that don't happen in our society today. I full-heartedly believe everything the bible says. It is a true testament from God.

All the stories can be interpreted in a literal sense, and in any number of metaphorical, spiritual and psychoanalytical ways. We can learn a lot by looking for non-literal interpretations. Some stories I take literally, like the miracles, virgin birth and resurrection of Jesus. Others like Adam and Eve, Noah's Ark, and Daniel, I don't. But they still teach us very valuable and important lessons.
Fundamentalist Christians like to take everything literally. But only a subset of Christians are fundamentalists.

The bible has been passed down through time and copied numerous times. I am sure that there has been additions and deletions.Maybe also embellishments by bored scribes who thought that the story's they were copying needed spicing up. I use the spirit as my guide. so it is able to guide me to what i need in the bible

I believe that the basic truths are ... but I do believe that for example the story of Adam and Eve may be more than it seems. Addam was a term for man. It may not have meant one specific man.
It is the INSPIRED Word of God, written by mankind, so it takes on our humanity...and we cannot fully understand God.

I do not question anything in the Bible. It is the inspired Word of God. But somethings in the bible are parables, these are stories God told to teach us a lesson, help us understand things better..
